My fiance purchased my engagement ring at Zales. For conciencious reasons, I asked that he not buy a diamond, but moissanite. Zales offered these stones, and when he ordered my ring he was VERY specific on what he (I) wanted. Being overly cautious, he asked SEVERAL times if he would be able to return it if I didn't like it. They assured him repeatedly that he had 30 days to return it.

The ring was crafted poorly as well as cut differently than he requested. The stone sits crookedly on the band, one of the prongs is barely touching the stone, the basket is wrong, and it is a radiant cut instead of the emerald he requested. Because he wanted SOMETHING to put on my finger when he asked me, he kept it, knowing that he could return it.

He took the ring back twenty four days after he purchased it. They said the manager wasn't present so he would have to return. (Apparently nobody was in the store who had the authority to handle returns.)

He returned the next day, and Penny said he couldn't get a refund, claiming that he only had 24 hours to return it because it was considered a custom design. (There is nothing custom about the ring-- it is a solitaire on a band.) This 24 hours was NEVER mentioned when the ring was purchased. They offered to "fix" it and "make him happy" with it, but they couldn't refund it. Since they were so irresponsible about the craftsmanship in the first place, we definately will only accept a refund.

Legal action will be taken.
