Complaint Review: Aquality Plumbing and Heating - Willow Grove PA

You need to read contracts before you sign them.  Just because it's on an iPad or you didn't have a chance to read it doesn't make it any less binding.  Ask them for a printed copy, or have them send it to your email.  Never sign anything you haven't had time to read and understand.

In April of 2021, there was a leak emanating from my bathroom into my living room. Aquality Plumbing came to the house, and determined that the leak was from the trap under my sink in the bathroom. He fixed that leak but did not reattach the sink at that time because the flooring needed to be replaced. The water remained off until he reattached the sink in July of 2021 (so your theory that I was running water through the pipes for months is inaccurate).

Also, your professional opinion of the age of my pipes is inaccurate as the houses were not built 90 years ago, but closer to 65. While I was waiting for people to come replace the bathroom floors, I had the drywall and ceiling replaced (which had been ripped open to fix the leak.) Aquality plumbing had done work on the main stack adjacent to where that hole was located. The hole was filled with putty, according to the second plumber, who also stated there was no way that the first plumber did not see that hole - he just did not address it. 

Had he run the water after he fixed what he thought was the leak, he would have noticed that there was a bigger problem, he did not. The night after he reattached the sink and turned the water back on, I went upstairs to do my nightly routine, water came gushing through the ceiling and walls that I had just had repaired, ruining not only my new ceiling and walls but also my couch. I paid 3000.00 for a repair that was not complete and his negligence caused additional damage.

I have paid for a second plumber to come out and make the repairs and that pipe has been replaced. The second plumber took those pictures and was in shock at the lack of responsibility from Aquality Plumbing. Again, your opinion is appreciated, just not valid. 

That looks like a pipe that's about 90 years old.  It obviously wasn't installed by the plumber you hired.  I am not sure why you think he'd be responsible for something he had nothing to do with.  That said, you should have replaced all the piping once a leak developed, and I'm sure the plumber would have suggested that instead of the patchwork approach you seem to have adopted. 

If a pipe fails due to old age, the rest of the plumbing isn't far behind, so it's not much of a surprise that you had another leak.  In fact, you will have more leaks shortly unless all the old rusty pipework is replaced.  Leak testing drain pipes is not a standard practice and normally isn't necessary.  If the pipes are installed professionally, they will not leak.  And it's not the plumber's job to inspect your existing plumbing in great detail, unless that's the service you specifically requested and paid for.

Also, the amount of damage you are showing requires leaking tens of gallons of water.  This isn't something you noticed after using the sink once.  It looks like you were using this sink for months before you noticed the leak.
