In late March we purchased $2700 worth of jars and bottles from Badgerface Beauty Supply de-stashing sale.  We sent $1000 to hold the jars until we could arrange delivery or pick up.  We could not find affordable means of pick up and our delivery guy had a family member sick in the hospital out of state and could not make the 1500 mile trip.  She agreed to cancel the order and let us purchase a few boxes to have shipped UPS and refund the difference.  We had her ship 2 cases of jars to us UPS ($369 value) which we paid for, and then she issued a $381 refund for balance owed and kept $250 to cover storage costs for 5 months.  Kristina Strain never mentioned she would charge us a storage fee and owes us $250 for this order.  

 

It is not a lot of money, but we want to make others aware of her business practices are not discussed and addressed and additional charrges may be applied that are not discussed.

I really wanted to make this work. Here's my side of the story.

SpaPure has all the facts correct:

  • They paid a $1,000 deposit - in March - for $2,700 worth of containers
  • We stored the containers for five months while SpaPure tried to find a cost-effective way of picking up the containers
  • When SpaPure decided they only wanted two cases of jars, we immediately shipped the jars, and returned her deposit, less the cost of the jars and a $250 fee.

In the five months between March and August, I worked continuously with SpaPure to find a cost-effective way to get the containers to them. This included:

  • Weighing and measuring each individual carton (31 cartons total) to calculate a shipping cost (shipping would've been prohibitive, we both agreed)
  • Pricing out renting a truck to deliver the items to her, and offering to have my husband make the drive, at cost
  • Dozens of email exchanges trying to work out having her associate come pick up the items 
  • Dozens of email exchanges trying to work out what, if anything, she was actually interested in purchasing
  • Weeks of waiting to hear back from SpaPure, including dropped email threads where I sent requested information (weights and dimensions of cartons, for example) and didn't hear back
  • Storing the approximately 400 square feet of cartons in our storage room, which costs us $600 monthly to rent

If this whole situation had resolved with SpaPure taking the full lot of containers - which was priced at about 25% of cost - we would not have levvied a fee for all of our trouble. I feel this cost - $50/month for all our efforts to work this out - was more than fair.
