Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

So there is a common scam going about many dealerships in which they need to run a “background check” in which they claim is “required by the IRS” (spoiler, its not) to see if you are a “terrorist”.

Similarly advertised like the libtarded “universal background check” for firearms (which doesn't stop criminals either), many car dealerships try to sell this type of “public safety” scam to run your credit and get your SSN when you pay in full (this only applies to paying in full, if you are getting a loan then the bank needs to run your credit).

Las Vegas dealerships are notorious for this scam, and Chapman Dodge of Las Vegas’, Don Hamrick, loves to play lawyer and run this scam.

First he or his associate will ask to run your credit, “oh it’s required by the IRS and every dealership has to do this to make sure you’re not a terrorist”, is his usual line. Anyone with an ounce of education (or hopefully after reading this) by now should be suspicious.

When you’re paying in full, why do you need a credit check and SSN and how does this have to do with “foreign terrorists”??? Are they going buying a “black high powered assault Challenger” to shoot up another school?

Do they think you’re not going to finish paying off your debts after paying in full? … Oh wait, there are no debts afterwards!

And how do they check your SSN with the “foreign terrorists” database? I mean, does ISIS have US Social Security cards too? Are we paying for their benefits? … Oh wait, they don’t have SSNs or pay US taxes!!

Why?

Because it’s a LIE and a SCAM!

Now, Don will claim “every dealership has to do this” (which isn’t true, they don’t have to and they don’t) and he’ll cite some IRS tax code that requires collection of SSN… or wait, it has nothing to do with car dealerships, credit, or paying in full.

Now, even after being called out on his BS, he’ll keep going online and show web site after web site of IRS tax codes and other SSN collecting rules which, if you read (and better yet, happen to be a lawyer) know it has NOTHING TO DO WITH BUYING A CAR. In other words, the rules and laws don’t apply to this case but he hopes you don’t read it thoroughly and comprehend it.

Don’t waste your time, money, and aggravation with this dealership, DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR SSN when paying in full. Go to another legit dealership (sadly, this is another reason why we should be able to buy directly from manufacturers and avoid all these scam dealerships).

There simply isn’t any such rule or law other than a common perpetuated scam pulled by many illicit dealerships and stubborn scammers posing as lawyers who just can’t take the L.

a Toyota, you might want to type in 261157 at this site and read Ripoff Report #261157 that was submitted by Charlene regarding the “sludge” problem in many Toyota engines.

It appears that large companies like Toyota and Bloomberg have been successful in eliminating information that was available on the web. These large companies obviously know that exposure is a corporation’s worst fear.

Anyone can type in 269041 at this site and scroll down to the comment entitled “Blame it on a Lawyer” at Ripoff Report #269041 and read what a Harvard Business Professor said to his class of executives in late 2004.

***It’s nice to know that Ripoff Report doesn’t remove information from the web, like Toyota, Bloomberg, and even Google.

Have a great day!

site and type in 358430 and read Ripoff Report #358430, which was submitted by Mia2000. It appears that they ran her credit two times after she told them not to do it. She was a VP of lending at a bank too.

Imagine how many others have had similar situations over the past few decades. It’s just further proof that much of our system in America is corrupt. No wonder Ripoff Report is exploding with consumers sharing their stories.

Good luck to you, and make sure to spread your Ripoff Report all over the web at sites like Twitter & Facebook every day!
