 I am a single mom and a disabled vet residing in Woodstock, GA. I have a story that I feel needs to be brought to the public because a bad business owner is making it a habit of taking people's money. There was already one negative post on Yelp before I posted my review and another negative review posted after I posted mine. All three for the same reason - the owner is withholding our money. 

 

    Let me start from the beginning.....for my case anyway. My daughter got engaged at Christmas 2017. She picked Cold Creek Farm, in Dawsonville to be her wedding venue. We selected an all inclusive package totaling $15,375. To hold the date of March 23, 2019, I made a deposit of $1000 and told the owner, Jeff Buffington that I would put down another $4000 when I got my income tax return - which he agreed to.

In March 2018, I got my return but it wasn't as much as I thought it would be. So I took out a loan and wrote him out a check for $11,375 - leaving me a $3000 balance due 60 days before the wedding. In November 2018, the wedding was called off because the groom met someone else. I immediately informed the owner and asked for a refund.

After several months of his giving me the runaround or ignoring me, I filed a lawsuit. In April of this year, the judge ruled in my favor, ordering him to return all my money. We never had a written contract with a cancellation clause (he didn't create that until after the fact) and he rebooked the date. So he basically double dipped for the same date.

Since that hearing, he still hasn't returned any of my money and I had to hire an attorney (another $1500) to get my money back from him. In the meantime, he is paying for destination weddings to Montana for his daughter (when he failed to show for a deposition) and is buying new furniture for his business that he's posting all over Facebook. And in the next few weeks, I'll be having surgery on my hands and right elbow due to a work related injury. So while I am wondering how my bills are going to be paid, this man is rolling around in my money. 

 

    We have a court date scheduled on Oct 8 for his failure to appear but it's not going to stop him from what he is doing. Before I posted my review, I found that he did the same thing to another young lady and waited almost 2 years to reply to her negative review. In June of this year, there is another negative review saying that he won't return another person's money. This is becoming a habit and the public needs to know.
