The most high-pressure timeshare sales ever. After our son died in a car accident in 2012 we were mourning and exhausted. I felt and acted like a zombie going through my daily routine. We did not know this was a timeshare. They advertised a room online and we booked it. When we got there they kept calling our room and telling us we could stay longer for super cheap.
We did the timeshare presentation to get the special price and 6 hours later, we were owners. It is one of the worst financial decisions we have made. We stuck with them for many years and made our payments and the maintenance fees continued to climb but when you go there it seems there has been no maintenance.
Financially we are very responsible humans. Our ficos are in the 850's and it seems we should be able to refinance our home. No debt. Not outstanding balances on anything and yet....we can't because we defaulted on some oversold timeshare in Sedona. Do not make decisions while grieving. Diamond played on our raw emotions and it is the song that never ends with them. We finally defaulted on it over 6 years ago and they have never foreclosed on it because after all, it is just air you are buying so they can do that. When we tried to use it we could only use it at that resort and it was never open for "owners".
We have not been able to refinance our home because of Diamond Resorts' timeshare. They report it every month as a late mortgage and have been doing that for 6 years. We are done with them and I will begin shouting from the rooftops about their bad business practices and seek legal advice to rid ourselves of them.
This is a WARNING: Don't get roped in no matter what!! They suck and their company sucks overall. It is not as presented. If you go in tired and weary, you could find yourself stabbing at things with your stealy knives as it is like Hotel California you and checkout but you can never leave.
