At the height of Covid-19, and after living in a place for eight years, I lost my rented condominium because my landlord decided to sell with the real estate spike. I was looking for a place to move and rental prices were soaring and there was little to choose from in my budget. I found a rental located at 10230 SE Federal Highway, #14 in Hobe Sound, FL. It was listed on Floridian Management Group website for $1000 a month. The dwelling was a studio bungalow. I was indeed a step down, but under the circumstances, I was grateful to find it and it was available to me contingent on a background and employment check.
I moved in April 2022. I sold most of my furniture because there just wasn't enough room in this smaller home for it and I didn't want to pay to store it all. The issues that were to come living here under the management of Floridian Management Group (Robin Sabow) I couldn't even have imagined. Bullet pointing them seems like a much more efficient and concise way of conveying them. They are as follows:
*Infestation of drain flies coming from the shower and kitchen sink drains *Rats as listed in Robin Sabow's communiqué *Never disclosed the banking institution where my security deposit per Florida Statute 83.49 is being held *Infestation of palmetto bugs (I woke one night with one crawling on my neck) *Water running down the interior walls when it rains *Carpet beetle infestation that rendered my $500 area rug to be trashed *Sewage backing up into my shower drain *No hot water for three days *An electrical explosion outside where the circuit breaker box was that required Florida Power and Light (FPL) to respond to the emergency as well as an electrician to turn back on some of our power to the multiple effected homes of this electrical explosion.
One of the most amazing bits of advice from Robin Sabow was when I told her of the drain fly infestation, she recommended in her May 28, 2022 email to me to pour bleach down the drains every day. I later realized that the sewage was a septic system. Robin Sabow obviously does not realize what bleach does to a septic system. I wonder if she realizes it now since sewage backup is a major, ongoing problem.
I found Robin Sabow to be an unresponsive, uncaring, unreachable, slumlord. Her company (Floridian Management Group) has about five different mailing addresses and the owner of All Ashore remains a mystery. I have a feeling that after I leave on December 1, 2022, that I will be able to get a judge to divulge the identity of the owners of this property from Robin Sabow because court is inevitable subsequent to my departure.
