Complaint Review: lancasterpuppies.com - dundee Oh

When we were looking to purchase a husky puppy in April, I happened to come across lancasterpuppies.com. I found the puppy I loved and messaged the lady on the Monday the week before we picked him up. I put my deposit down to guarantee the puppy that I wanted. When I asked if there were any updated pictures of the puppy as the posted pictures were about 4 weeks old, I was told that there were no updated pictures available. Which I found strange but didn’t mind as I loved the puppy from the picture that was posted.

We were all set to make the 4 hour drive from Michigan to Ohio the following Saturday. About half way into the drive I received a call from the family that had our puppy. They let me know that the puppy had a small scab on his back that had peeled off at some point and now there was a “SMALL” open sore on his back.

I was advised that I could change my mind and not get a puppy and they would give me my money back or I could choose another puppy from the litter. Well I had already fallen in love with the puppy and we were already half way into our drive, also I was under the impression that the sore was small, thinking about the size of a quarter, so I told him that we would be there in about 2 hours and we would still take the puppy that we had chosen.

When we arrived to the house we were led to a huge garage where the puppies were kept, all 5 of the puppies were huddled in the corner on the cement, no bed or blanket was laid out, there was no food or water in site, also no visible signs that the puppies had ever even been in this garage. I was handed my puppy and that’s when I realized that the “small” sore was about the size of your palm, all of the hair around it was gone and you could visibly see a large sore in the middle of it.

I feel that there is no possible way that they had just noticed this sore this morning, by the size of it it was there for at least a couple days. They told me that they had a vet come and look at it but “he wasn’t sure what it was from”. I was given the option again to take my money back and leave or choose another puppy.

This is when I made the incredibly difficult decision to choose another puppy from the litter, as I have 2 cats at home and an 8 year old son, and I was worried about the ability for this sore on his back to get larger if it was messed with. The puppy we chose also had a bunch of scabs on him that we later found out was a skin infection and has since been on antibiotics and it has all cleared up.

All of the puppies were extremely skittish while in the garage, which could very well be that there were anxious or nervous to be around new people in a new area. Once we were in our car on the way home he perked right up and has since become the rambunctious puppy that I was expecting him to be.

Overall I am happy with the puppy that we chose, I feel like we saved him from the environment that he was in and would not change our decision. I do however worry about the puppy that we were supposed to get and if he will get the care he needs or not. I don’t for one minute regret purchasing my puppy from that website but I would highly recommend that you look further into the “breeder” that you are purchasing your puppy from before you decide to purchase one.
