On January 17th 2022, I went to ferman Mazda of Brandon and purchased a new vehicle. The dealership offered me financing through MidFlorida credit union at a 2.9% rate for 84 months. I applied for all of the loan and financing through MidFlorida credit union and drove the vehicle off the lot.

One week later on January 24th, I received a phone call from a representative of a MidFlorida credit union stating that even though my loan made it through their system, that they were unable to service my loan due to me being active duty military and stationed outside of Florida regardless of my residency.

I hold a current Florida address, vote and pay taxes in one of the counties that MidFlorida services. The requirements on the MidFlorida credit union membership page state that they service individuals who live, work or worship in the counties they service. And even though I hold residency in one of those areas, I did not qualify because I have a different mailing address.

This credit union negativity affected my credit because not only did the dealership have to pull it and I made it through their system, but I now have to have my credit pulled again and find other options for financing my new vehicle, after I have already had it for over a week, and I am no longer in the area due to military requirements.

MidFlorida credit union is a company who does not serve active duty military members who are Florida residents. However, nothing in their membership requirements states that they do not service Florida residents who are active duty stationed outside of Florida. My credit is hurt because of this and I would hate for any other service member serving to have to go through this with this company who offers financing through multiple dealerships throughout Florida. Please see attached screenshot from the MidFlorida credit union website for what they state their membership requirements are.
