GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A father and daughter accused of embezzling more than $850,000 from a Kentwood trucking company rejected plea deals on Wednesday, sending their cases to trial.

The pair are charged with embezzling $100,000 from AA Transportation over a four-month span in 2015, court records show.  They’re also accused of submitting fraudulent invoices and transactions with a billing company in excess of $750,000.

Ilderina Sakib Kajtezovic, 24, and her father, 45-year-old Sakib Kajtezovic, were arrested in March. Bond was initially set at $1 million because they are from Bosnia and considered flight risks. Embezzlement and conspiracy to embezzle more than $100,000 are 20-year felonies; they're also accused of using a computer to commit a crime.

Bosnian immigrants accused in $850K trucking firm fraud. The Kent County Prosecutor’s Office agreed to dismiss the conspiracy charge in exchange for pleas on the other two charges, with sentences to run concurrent.

Neither accepted the offer. Kent County Circuit Court Judge Donald A. Johnston agreed to lower bond to $100,000 for Ilderina Kajtezovic. Her father was released from the Kent County Jail last week after posting a reduced bond.
