This company is a sham! I have a new manager every week because they all hate their jobs. I found out from a manger, their clients expect TIG to have their insurance but they want to use yours if something goes wrong - ridiculous. This is the only company who asks you to have your own insurance. I have to work at least 5 cases just to pay for the insurance with them...wtf!

Then you get the pleasure of speaking with the owner, Patrick Andrews. My God, I have not met a stupider man who starts yelling at the drop of a hat! I guess his clients are fine with what hes doing but I can't wait for something to happen and i wanna see how they offer up the insurance.

His clients won't be happy with my policy. It's only $300,000. Big companies expect more, thats why these morons are supposed to carry it. So, because I can't produce a insurance accord, Patrick kept my pay and still used my investigation! Found out from a manger there, they hate him more than i do.

It seems to be an internal issue with this company, The Insight Group Risk Services

If you look this place up, first thing I saw was...

TIG Risk Services - TIG is a very un-professional group to work ...

www.glassdoor.com › reviews › employee-review-tig-risk-service...

The individual Investigator's makes the management and CEO look good. Your education, certifications, and experience make the company look good.

It appears to be your typical family run business. I spoke with a "very" old school investigator in WI and he said this company was located in IN but the owner was being accused of somethong pretty bad and they moved the business to Florida because of it. Patrick Andrews, the owner i think, mass emails our association frequently looking for investigators top work for $25 - 35 an hour. People like this are ruining a good profession for profit only.

I received a phone call a few years ago asking for my insurance paperwork, mind you, I've never worked for these people. When I asked what it was all about, a girl "Tina" said they just need my paperwork to "put in the system". I couldn't believe what she was asking because I never worked for this company. She went on to tell me I was part of a list they had of thousands investigators and they're trying to get all of their insurance documents??? They are up to something, just hard to tell what.

If you dig deeper this company runs, owns or something the business crosstrax.co. So they own software they sell to people who they keep on a list, just in case they need them? I'd say pretty smart if you can get people to do it.

Are You An Employee or an Independent Contractor

Given the duties you seem to be performing, you don't sound like you are an employee; you sound like an independent contractor.  If you are an employee by law, you would be covered by EPLI, or Employers Professional Liability Insurance.  But as a contractor, then no, they don't have to cover you for anything, and they shouldn't.  As a contractor, then you would also have the choice to simply say no - don't take a job for whatever they think is fair because according to you, it isn't.  Demand more, or don't do it.

Moreover, if they aren't covering you for the equivalent of EPLI, then you probably aren't covered for workers compensation as well.  If you opt to get PL policy, make sure there's a workers comp component to it as well.

I have not met a stupider man who starts yelling at the drop of a hat!  Yet they seem to have figured out how to not pay for your insurance.  I mean if you were an employee, you have a lot of rights to go to the DOL and file complaints.  As a contractor, you don't have the same rights, but you have the choice to say NO.

So, because I can't produce a insurance accord, Patrick kept my pay and still used my investigation! Found out from a manger there, they hate him more than i do.  Well, the employer appears to be covering you under their umbrella, and in exchange - they took your normal pay, and that entitles them to use your work product.  You would do well to get yourself a  $1M policy, either through Philadephia or Hartford; don't choose a carrier that isn't sufficiently capitalized, or you'll get screwed on a claim.

By the way, if there are managers there that hate the owner, then they also happen to be totally and completely stupid.  With all of the choices out there and places to work in this economy, only an idiot would opt to work someplace where they hate the owner.  Life is just too short.

No, I don't work for this company, and I'm not the owner....
