Professional Thieves that lack common sense....... I just moved in my apartment complex Monday, Jan. 29th, 2024 in the affordable housing at that, when I woke up today Saturday Feb. 3rd, 4 days later, I came outside to see my car that was in my spot was gone. I couldn't believe what I was not seeing. My car gone, I instantly thought stolen ( which it was technically) and called 911 to report just so that they can tell me that Tiger Towing took my car. Which is crazy because my car is legal. It is not only current with registration and insurance but it even has a parking permit on my front windshield that you have to prove with the front office in order to get the d**n parking permit. They are some slick a*s thieves because I didn't go to sleep until after 1 a.m. so, they had creeped their way in to take a car in the wee hours of the early morning without effin evidence or validation that the car was sufficient and legal and upon learning about this less than 8 hours these people were going to charge me 320 something dollars for their mistakes. They are no different than car salesman or politicians. They are heisters, professional car jacking theives that even suck at that. They can't even jack the right cars. They didn't even give me my receipt. They said they took it because of my expired year sticker, but that sticker was from 3 years ago and JPD, Sheriff's, State Troopers all have one time or another ran my plates out pulled over and never had an issue with this for I told them that people were going around stealing those stickers off plates and that is why I carry mine. But, I still had to prove to the complex that if I wanted to live here and park I would need that information which I had and do not have a problem proving. All other complexes have had their towing company give out an initial warning ⚠️ to either fix or prove before stealing the cars. Now I'm m out of money that was going to be used for rent because of these people. Make it make sense.

NC Gen Stat § 20-66 (c):  A single registration renewal sticker issued by the Division must be displayed on the registration plate that it renews in the place prescribed by the Commissioner and must indicate the period for which it is valid. Except where physical differences between a registration renewal sticker and a registration plate render a provision of this Chapter inapplicable, the provisions of this Chapter relating to registration plates apply to registration renewal stickers.

Under the law, not displaying the sticker is basically equivalent to not displaying the license plate.  A cop or a meter maid could have cited you; they didn't as a courtesy to you, not because you were in the clear.  Not putting the sticker on your plate defeats the entire purpose of the sticker.  And I'm sure your lease has a clause that requires your vehicle to display a valid registration.  So no, you are completely, 100% at fault here.

If you are that worried about the sticker being stolen, slice through it with a razor blade after gluing it on.  But if you just clean the license plate before sticking it on, it will never come off in one piece.
