Long story short: I've started to purchase perfume oils from this woman that I thought to be home-made back in 2006. She stated she had "over 10 years of experience and extensive training in the perfume industry"... Her descriptions for her oils are incredibly bland, but I still enjoyed them.
Over time, her oils got more and more expensive, and more and more diluted the more I kept purchasing from her. I purchased roughly over $600 of her perfume oils over the period of 3.5 years before I realised that she was actually selling stock fragrance oils from a company called "Save on Scents", among others. She used their descriptions AND names, yet claimed she made her own perfume oils when I called her on it in 2009.
I discovered this because I started to purchase oils from the same site to explore making my own perfumes, and I was shocked to discover this and the fact that they smelled exactly the same. I the blog I mentioned, I have links to all of the oils she's using and claims to be hers along with two of the stock oils she that uses are actually dupes of well-known fragrances from well-established perfumers, Clinique and Bath and Body Works.
In 2007 on a forum called bpal.org, other women began to point out that her oils were stock fragrances from the same site I mentioned. You can also find the links to the threads in the blog, as well as the e-mail she sent me, threatening to sue me if I continued to contact her customers. She has ripped off people (not fulfilling their purchases) on gothauctions.com as well as on etsy selling as just "13gypsies"... I have links to those as well.
