We had been paying a charge of $49.95 for nearly 2 years. When we tracked the charge, we contacted them and requested termination in January of 2010. We were informed that there would be a balance. In late February we received a final payment that we promptly paid through our bill pay service.
We were out of the country for March and April and received a notice that there was a collector account on our credit report. The collection was from 1and1 through their processor NCO Financial. After many hours of back and forth contacts, the problem was traced to 1and1 as they claim to not accept any form of payments, except credit cards or Pay Pal.
We were never notified and now are facing payments of late charges, ding on our perfect credit, and hours of Telephone calls to track their error.
