Prior to this report I had contacted 1st Convenience Bank as documentation showed that they were applying NSF fees of 35.00 without explanation. The second time that I called I addressed the concern again as my account showed positive prior to and after the NSF charge. This time it was explained to me that the NSF charge was applied for a check drawn on the bank, however, this check does not show anywhere in the transactions. The document I am attaching shows the NSF fee applied at the top and the bottom of the document but no indication of why the fee was applied and for what charge.
When I got the latest fee I was able to track down what check was written and came up with a debt that I am trying to pay off. The amount of the check was $56.30, which does not compute when figured into the screen shot. Additionally, even though I opted out of the NSF charge on debit purchases the bank continued to charge a 2.00 fee each time that happened. Although the new laws say you can opt out, which I did, I could find no validation in the law that allows the charge.
I have seen over 100 complaints as to the business practices of this bank and would like to see some action against them.

The reason you got the fee on 02/25 is because you didn't have an available balance to cover the &56.30 check. Your balance after the fee was $102.74, add the fee you had $137.74 physically in the bank. However, you had a debit card hold of $100.00 for your purchse at North Bay leaving you an available of $37.74 ($137.74 minus $100.00). Since this is less than the check, the check was returned unpaid causing the NSF fee. I'm not sure what was on hold when the fee was charged the second time (at the top) but probably the same thing. You didn't have enough available balance to cover the check.
As far as opting out, it only covers debit card transactions. If you have an available balance of $37.00 and try to spend more than that with your card it will be denied. But checks and ACH transactions can either be paid or returned unpaid at the bank's decision causing a fee either way if the item would post to a negative balance).
Hope this helps explain what happened and, NO I don't work for the bank.
