1st Pacific Credit - Providian =Straight Robbery ripoff scam
After reading an ad in the Pennysaver for a GUARANTEED Visa or Mastercard, I called the number given. it was 3 weeks before Christmas and I was broke. I gave the rep (Katie) all my information and authorized the amount due, $139.00, to be electronically deducted from my checking account.
Two weeks after the electronic check cleared my account, I had to call 1st Pacific to ask where my new card was. They assured me it was on its way. Last week, I got what I had paid $139 for. It's five sheets of paper, with the names and phone numbers of credit providers that MIGHT give me a credit card.
The card 1st Pacific reccommends, Providian, isn't even on the list! Another bank listed is Cross Country, whose card I have had since last June! On Friday, I called and told 1st Pacific I want my money back. I explained that I had no idea I was paying that much for 5 pieces of paper. The man told me the only way I can get my money back is to send in denial letters from EACH of the providers listed. So, not only do they rob me, they also want me to screw up my own credit even more? I don't think so. One of the numbers on their list (Columbus Trust & Bank Freedom Card) calls a default error message. When I called Orchard, I was told I would still have to pay the usual account activation fee. I will find some way to get my money back, and hopefully, help stop other people from falling for the B.S. 1st Pacific has to offer.
