AA Smog is a ripoff; they were cited by Bureau of Automotive Repairs (1-800-952-5210) for improper inspection .....
AA Smog, when given a car for a california smog check usually "finds" needed repair work in order to pass smog. I caught them in the act by having my daughter take in a second car after I suspected RIPOFF on the first car. Sure enough AA Smog told my daughter that $150 of repairs (same repairs my first car needed) were needed before it could be smogged properly. I took the secong car to Able Smog (a smog only station) and it passed immediately with no repair.
I subsequently reported AA Smog and they were cited for the second car and forced to refund my payment on the second car. However AA refused to refund my repair charges for the first car or talk to me. Don McElwain is the owner and he has been given an "unsatisfactory" rating by the BBB of North East California for refusing to address my complaints througout the process. The sorry part is that Don continues to do business using the same techniques as he used on me. His lack of ethics is a black spot on all of Redding.
