Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
3 months ago we took my husbands car to AAMCO to have a rebuilt engine put in. It took them almost 4 weeks to finish it.

We finally get it back, we have the car for 4 days and have to take it back because it is leaking oil. After having the car back for 1 week they replace some gaskets and return it to us. This time telling us they lost our key and had to have a locksmith come and make a new one. Well the new key works great on the ignition but we have trouble using it on the door locks.

We have the car back for about 1 week when we have to take it back because it is leaking oil again. This time they have it for a week again then tell us they have to replace the oil pan. They do that and we pick up the car.

We have the car back for about 4 days when we have to take it back because IT IS STILL LEAKING OIL. This time, first they tell us that it is an old car and it is going to leak and they cannot do anything about that, after arguing with them for a while they agree to change the engine out AGAIN!!!, It take them another 3 weeks to do that, we pick the car up.

That was on a saturday on monday guess where we are again????? Taking the car back because guess what? OOOHHH IT IS STILL LEAKING OIL!!!!!!! AND............. when we took the car in it had four almost new Goodyear tires on it, when we get it back it has three almost new Goodyear tires on it and one who knows where it came from tire on it, which they mentioned nothing to us about, we happened to notice the different tire on the car, in addition the second engine put in is not a REBUILT like we paid for but a USED engine.

So here we are inconveniencing my parents who have lent us their car for the last 3 months so my husband can get to work because AAMCO will not provide us a rental car (which I think they should, since they have taken so long and still have not repaired the car) and waiting to see what they will do next.

I do not trust this store, who knows if one of their employees had our key, they obviously have my address from the paperwork and I am afraid one of these days when we get our car back it will come up missing. Also they are sneeky by not mentioning to us anything about the tire until we mentioned it. and the lack of reponsibility is just too much.

WISH US LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was reading your problems about a oil leak and there reply was its a old car he stated it had over 400k on the car,, while this may be true the motor only had a weeks life on it. POINT IN QUESTION i have a 1970 chevy p/u with over 470k on it i just rebuilt the moter and put a rebuilt trans in it i also rebuilt the rear end so while the truck body might have over 470k miles on it the drivetrain is new and i HAVE NO OIL/WATER or leaks of anykind my solution to you is get a compitent mechanic that can do the job right the first time and dont use so much permentex

Aamco Lancaster Always Honored your Warranty and Gave Customer a Free Computer Job!

Yes Mr. Sawyer did win the court case for a reimbursement of an extended warranty that was purchased. We felt that we should not have refunded his extended warranty due to a Free Computer Job approx $2,000 that was given to him for customer satisfaction. There has been some policy changes in our location regarding Saturn's since it appears to be common problem for faulty computers to be bad. Mr. Sawyer is a nice person to deal with but obviously we had two different opinions in this matter. We strive to do the best job we can and are a high volume shop and worked on countless number of cars/trucks/suv's with no problems whatsoever. We have no defense for intermittent computers; it is a reality when dealing with electronically controlled vehicles. We are not in the business to create customer issues. It makes no sense for us to fix cars under warranty for free and give out free repairs just for the heck of it. (yes we lose money when that happens) I'm proud of the work we do at Aamco Lancaster and will always stand behind our work no matter what. That will never change. If you have a problem with our center please contact us as we want your experience to be a good one. Thank you. Eric P.s. Thank your Mr. Sawyer and I wish you better luck with your new vehicle.

Small Claims Won

#4Consumer Comment

Sun, February 15, 2009

I won almost all of what I was seeking in small claims. Do not be surprized by Eric's refusal to negotiate (two hard heads do not make a deal - He was pleasant enough in person though and appologized for the problems- just not willing to pay for it or reimburse for teh extended warranty) If you feel wronged by this or any Aamco: 1) File a bureau of Automotive repair complaint 2) Sue in small calims court 3) Do not ever buy the extended warranty (the bulk of my lawsuit was over refusal to reimburse for the extended warranty) Watch out for the its an intermittent electrical/computer issue defense. I could be wrong but this appears to be some kind of standard Aamco playbook response. GL to all P.S. For all I know Aamco lancaster does it right most times. I just know in my case it was a nightmare and they responded inapproprately. I know I will never go to any aamco again. If aamco is your choice tow your car to the Bakersfield aamco (nice gentleman and his staff - very experienced).

Another Consumer With Similair Issues with Aamco Lancaster (Autofix Group -Eric Hamini)

I feel your pain and wish you luck. Eric Hamini is the owner of this lancaster Aamco Affiliate. His service manager is Mike Short. I too had an issue with this shop. Transmission service. Rather then go into great detail I will just say the following (for now). I am currently suiing Eric Hamini (Autofix group) an aamco affiliate in small claims court for additional costs incurred as a result of there gross incompetence and refusal to reimburse for an extended warranty I do not need (policy allows cancellation and reimbursement). My court date is in the Lancaster court house small claims divison A-8 at 08:30 on December 1, 2008. Those victimized by this aamco affiliate may want to observe. The rebuttal by E. Hamini is a typical response about how great their warranty is and what a great service they provideetc... In my opinion its all BS and this particular aamco is one you should stay away from at all costs. You will find aamco corporate nearly useless. Suggestions: 1) File a Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) Complaint. 2) File a small claims lawsuit after the BAR investigation is complete. If enough victims take an active interest in fighting this abuse, maybe the local district attorney will investigate and prosecute. I plan to see him after the lawsuit is completed. Aamco has done nothing but Honor the Customers Warranty and Take Care of the Situation!

Rebuttle: We are taking care of the warranty and this is the 4th Motor that we put in the car. We did not replace the tire with the exact type because it's discontinued. We appoligize that the tire had a hole in it but we wanted to replace it with a new on for you. We went ahead and purchased another Brand New Tire for you and let you keep the other one as a replacement, that's 2 new tires. Key was made off the car and was lost, however tumblers go bad on the door so that might be the problem. Yes we did lose the key however we had about 40 cars in the shop and we appolgizie for this. This is the first and only time this has happened. Rental is not covered under warranty and we have spent countless numbers of hours on labor and parts all for free to take car of you. As far as safety for you car, our employees hold a high standard of morals and values as professionals and we would never have interest in your car. We are Aamco the best in the business and not thieves. So rest assured if we found the key we would call you to give it back. The vehicle is a 1994 has 327,000 miles and is in poor condition. We At Aamco take pride in our work and are the best in the Nation. Keep in mind we have done nothing but honor your warranty and take care of you. Yes accidents happen and we appoligize but we have done all the right things to correct it and make it better. After having your Engine Steam Cleaned at no charge, we have determined that the leaks the last time you came in where residual oil from installation. We have checked it over and over and there is no Engine oil leak. Thank you for bien our customer and if you need something in the future we will do our best to take care of you. If any one wants the Best Warranty around then come in to Aamco of Lancaster and ask for Mike. Thank you, Eric Owner
