We took our truck to Aamco June 2006 when the transmission went out. We spoke with the owner Kurt Larson who was very nice and said he would rebuild it with all new parts and it would be "bulletproof!" We paid over $2500.00 and got a 12 month 12000 mile warranty.

Almost a year to the date later, June 2007 the transmission starts acting up. We took it back to Aamco, it was about 1000 miles out of warranty. Kurt tols us not to worry he would cover all the parts, there shouldn't have been a problem with it already.

A few days later my husband calls to speak with Kurt to find out what is wrong with the truck and Kurt won't speak to him he instead gets a Mike Jones on the phone. Mike asks my husband what he has been towing and my husband says nothing lately my wife drives that truck it hers. Then Mike askes my husband, "How does your wife drive?" When my husband told me that I called Aamco and asked the person on the phone who Mike Jones boss is, and the guy replies "me, Kurt Larson". I asked him who his boss is and he laughed and said "MY WIFE!" I hung up on him.

I went in and spoke with Mike about my driving, and he said that my short little city trips and towing are bad on the transmission. I drive an F350 Super Duty 1 ton Dually... I am pretty sure that truck is BUILT for towing!!! And the year before Kurt said he would rebuild it and it would be bulletproof!

Kurt still would not speak to us, and we had no idea why, but Mike told us we would have to pay for the parts and said it was the Torque Converter , which we paid $700 for the year before. We picked up the truck 8 days later... and paid $800 for it and Kurt would still not speak to us at all. The truck is still not running right but of course we are not going to take it back there!

We found out a couple of weeks later that Kurt who was so very nice to us the first time we met him, had "heard a rumor" about my husband, (Kurt was telling other people who had buisinesses in the area, and we happen to know one of the guys, I guess we would have never known if we didn't just happen to know someone who worked next to Aamco) and refused to speak with us becuase of that! So, becuase of something Kurt heard he decided to treat us terrible and rip us off on fixing our truck! I have never dealt with anyone that unprofessional before!

To take your truck in somewhere and completely trust them to fix it, then be told you are a bad driver (probably because he figured there was no way a woman could drive that truck) and have the "OWNER" treat you terribly because of something he heard, and have to pay for a part they said they had replaced less than a year before is absolutely ridiculous! I certainly hope this does not happen to anyone else!! In 1 year we have paid Aamco over $3300 to fix the transmission that is still not running right!!

Thanks for your kind words of advice! We did infact take the truck to another shop, not Aamco. They were able to troubleshoot and actually repaired the truck. It does have a warranty now and is running great!

Well apperantly you brought you truck to AAMCO for a transmission problem and they fixed it. It lasted you a year and you did not want an extended warranty that they offer. You probably were towing something as well as wear and tear could have contributed to the parts failing. They were nice enough to just charge you for the parts even though you were out of warranty. They could have charged you for a rebuilt transmission all over again. AAMCO said "bullet Proof" and you want to hold him up to that? He was impliing that it was tough. Dont take small sarcastic comments and expect people to back them up. I'm a previous AAMCO customer and they did a very good job. I would recomend you try a different AAMCO since there is some friction going on. Remember Transmissions dont last forever, even after bien rebuilt. I would suggest you get an extended or lifetime warranty. These are all offered by AAMCO. Good Luck.
