in march of 2000, i took my 1992 gmc sierra in for service. i paid $1500.00 for what i thought was a brand new transmission. little did i know. one week after i pick up my truck , it is back in the shop. adjusting so they say.
3 weeks later once again in for adjusting. the truck was slipping and lurching when shifting.i had taken my truck in several other times only to have it have the same problem. after several attempts i gave up . i let the transmission stay as is, thinking there was nothing else they could do for me.
finally 1 year and 3 months later, and now my warranty has expired. i go back to same aamco place to try and see if they can get it right this time. not only do i find aamco has disappeared from this particular location . but another transmission place has opened up in it's place. i leave my truck with him hoping he can alleviate the problem .he calls me and tells me my transmission was done poorly and to fix it it would cost $650.00 to repair..so not only am i out $1500.00 i have to pay and additional 650.00 to repair what i thought was good work..i have written to aamco home offices , along with e-mails and am still waitng for a reply .
i do not expect any speedy response. but take my advice don't listen to James Brolin on those commercials, a handsome and articulate man do not make up for crappy service.
