This is to all the losers who wrote in in support of Aamco: Maybe you should all take some spelling and typing lessons first if you expect to be taken seriously here. Its no surprise most of you in support of Aamco are on AOL...(ISP dumbed down for the ignorant masses.)
Now to the main points:
Aamco DOES rip people off, its their core value and purpose. Repairing transmissions is secondary, in fact they are not even close to being in the ballpark in terms of echnical "expertise."
Why do you think there is such a high turnover of mechanics at most Aamco centers?
The honest ones leave...once they discover the scam.
Why don't you all wake up and realize Aamco is a scam? Good grief people;
if you are spending over $2000 of your hard earned money that
transmission/clutch sure as heck better be better than new! You think its acceptable to have it break down 9 months later after spending that kind of cash? Are you freakin nuts??

Just a friendly reminder always ask I lot of questions when some company works on your car.
Read the warranty and ask for clarification on things you don't understand if still not Satisfied do not let them work on the car, take the contract home and read top to bottom.
I can tell you this never put rebuilt parts in a transmission always use new parts, but Beware some in fact a lot of company's describe rebuilt parts as new parts.
Tell them you don't want one rebuilt or refurbished part put in your transmission Only new and I mean FACTORY NEW PARTS.
You MUST ASK THIS QUESTION before they work on your car.
This will cost you more $$ but should increase your odds of a sound Transmission.
BY the way you won't believe this but a AAMCO employee told me this stuff, however It was 7 years ago.
They did a great job on my car ran better than new but as I said this was 7 years ago.
Your warranty should always be extended in a returned for repairs
complaint.

This is not a comment supporting aamco, I have been ripped off by mechanics, and no matter the mannerisims of the customer, it should never be ignored, even if she was rude.
Sounds to me like she's not a rude person at all, just someone who's fed up with a company that has suceeded at ripping this poor woman and her husband off.
I know of two people, my father and my fiancee that were too ripped off by aamco, it sounds to me like this company does not realize that most people cannot afford to keep paying for the expencive lifestyles of the corperate owners of aamco. Most of us are hard working middle class people with familes to support and morgages to pay.
I certainly will not ever go to aamco for virtue of the fact that I work too hard for my money to have shoddy repair and not enough time to fight a company that obviously does not care about all of their coustomers. No thank you, you certainly have lost my buisness, and I'd like to thank the original woman with the van for reporting the evil and underhanded way in which aamco will rip off honest and good people.
It really is a shame that aamco can get away with this. Be assured, aamco, word of mouth is powerful enough to ruin any reputation, and you are not making any friends by not accomidating those that have paid for work, those that are putting that steak dinner on your table.
Shame on you! Ten fold back on you (and karma, weather you believe in it or not is a b***h)!

I mean really....I paid money from FORD to get a complete manual on this particular transmission. I will say this...It IS a very expensive transmissionand does have many parts, internally and externally. To rebuild it in hard parts alone would be a minimum of $500. So yes, I have done my homework, and do know what im talking about. I have read the invoices, and have taken the time to learn about this particular transmission, and Im sorry..but $5000?? Give me a break. You obviously have no clue as to what you are talking about. As I said before..if these so called "transmission specialist" knew what they were doing, the job would have been done right the first time!

It is no wonder that a personwith your attitude would not be contacted back from any company you call. Unfortunatly you can not educated in a short time on the workings of a thransmission. your best bet is to talk with a mechanic that you can trust. Let them explane to you that a transmission has over 400 parts inside of it and that if you had "all new Parts put in" you would spend over $5,000.
Take the time to read your invoice!
learn how a transmission works!
And try to be a nicer person!
Then you will be in a better situation to make educated comments. Maybe the company did not treat you right, but according to what you wrote it sounds like everything was done right.
Grow up!

I agree with the rebuttal. Too many times consumers expect more from one company than the other. How many miles did you get on your transmission.
When you returned to the AAMCO center, although you state it was the same problem, in your story you state different things repaired the problem. So actually, you did not have the same problem. Keep in mind this is the livlihood of the owner of the AAMCO center. When your warranty is over, pay up.

In responce to the rebuttles...you both have obvisiouly never been ripped off or screwed. I cant put every last little detail of our situation in the report. AAMCO is ripping people off. Its that freeking simple. Look at all the other reports in this section alone and see how many are about AAMCO. Watch your local news, you will see it there as well. As for some more details for you idiots. The transmission was rebuilt more than once by these "so called" transmission specialist! And YES, the warranty should be extended if the transmission was rebuilt a second time! Thats all new parts and should have the same warranty. We have contacted the corp. offices and have been ignored completely. No returned phone calls, no nothing. Apparantly you need to get your heads out of your butt, and realize the truth about AAMCO.

I dont know of any company that extends their warranty if you have a problem. not Ford, Sony, GE, Chevy, or anyone. Warranties are for a set time period. unless you purchase a extended warranty. even if you purchased a new trans from Ford at a lot more money you would still only have a 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty. warranties do not start over if you have a problem, no one does that!
so who is tring to screw who?
as for the lenght of time it took to repair, a Dodge dealer had my truck for 2 weeks to fix the trans and it still was not right.
As for your mounts, I agree with you they should not have charged for parts not put on. What was there resone for that? It sounds like they took care of it right away.
