NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT GIVE THIS GUY A DEPOSIT!!!
Initial estimate: $16,000
Add legs and skirt to the island: $17,200 ... really? That much?? And you had quoted me for a huge island without legs?
Replace three pullout drawers with a hole for a microwave and a trash bin: $18,000 ... really??? We moved up even though we now have one drawer instead of three????
Okay, if that's the case,get rid of the skirt and legs - I'll get them myself, and also instead of painting the island, stain it, which is cheaper: $17,500 ... Wait a second - we went up $1,200 when we added these items, AND we had a more expensive finish, so you'll knock off $500 if we take them out????? REALLY????
When I explained that the math just didn't make sense to me, he replied, "That's what it costs. I guess we justcan't do business." What's it matter to him, as long as there's a sucker born every minute.
Why else would a company have to operate under so many names: kitchenplace.com, cabinetsdelivered.com, Absolute Kitchen & Bath Marketplace, SmartCraft, Fashionable Enclosures, etc.
FYI, I never gave him a deposit, and thank goodness I didn't.
