Want to know how to starve and run yourself into poverty quickly? Work for a tow truck company! My experience- Ace Towing. Their goal- to enslave you for as many hours and days as possible while compensating as little as possible. I'm talking minimum wage!
I was told I would be paid for the hours I worked as well as a commission for each tow I did. I never saw a dime for any of my tows. However, I did get $100 deducted from my check once for a bogus repair that was done on the piece of junk they put me in.
On my last night working, my truck broke down and somebody had to come rescue me. The next day, the manager told me he had to let me go because my productivity was low. Excuse me?? All I did was wait until I was dispatched, like I was instructed to! I can't help it if there was nothing going on, like I would even be paid for the trips when I did them anyway. I feel as though they were expecting me to fix the truck the night before. Even if I knew how, it wouldn't have been my responsibility!
This can't be legal! A union would not tolerate any of this crap. No tow truck drivers union exists, unfortunately. I am all for getting one started. Until that happens, stay out of the towing business, especially with this company.

Its funny how everyone say the owner is a christian man, christians are not suppposed to treat people the way he does his employies, after all , its the employies that make the business thrive. As having prior history of being a tow driver for over 4 years, and working with good honest people an honest company in the past, ace towing was not a very good tow company to work for. I worked there for roughly 3 to 4 months in 2012, then i quit my job there do to i was also told i would get commission as well as hourly minimam wage. 12 hour days 5 days a week, but never recieved a dime for well over of hours and i meen hours over my shift, the law says you cant run over 12 hours, alot of times i would run well over that, anywhere from 1 to 4 and a half hours over my 12, and not get paid for it. hourly nor commission, ive even explained it to them to check out their gps systems they have on their trucks to see were and when ive been, aslo tow paperwork to back up my claim, i do believe in carma and my lord and savior, and also i believe in paying a man what he works. and this company does not follow the human desency to pay a driver what he works. mind everyone the company takes alot of automobile company customers, including AAA, which to me is a pretty big deal. Ive never pursued any legal actions , i just told the owners son, god bless, and karma is real, all said in a nice way. there are quit alot of drivers there i talked to who are in the same boqt, but are afraid to say anything, times are tuff now a days, and i dont blame them , they do have families to feed. I was just on the internet to look up my prior work employers to fill out aplications and i found this sight , i just figured i would tell my side of this unfortinate truth. thanks for reading and god bless.....
