On August 20th. 2006, I bought an Acer 17" LCD monitor (model #AL1717ASM) at Office Depot (Store# 2503) 32706 JOHN R. ROAD, MADISON HEIGHTS, MI 48071 (phone nume: 248-5850731). The promotion number is #05-53439. This item has 2 rebates:

1. $60 manufacturer rebate from Acer to be sent to:

17" LCD Monitor $60 Rebate

#05-53439

PO Box 540009

El Paso

TX 88554-0009

2. $20 Office Depot rebate to be sent to:

Office Depot

Offer #OD4802143

PO Box 9716

Young America

MN 55558-9716

I photocopied the rebates and sent both rebates at the same time sometime in the week of August 21st. 2006. Sometime in early Nov, 2006. I received the $20.00 from Office Depot. I waited for the $60 Acer rebate and on 11/29/06, I called Office Depot Rebate Center at 1-866-5410284 for help when I have no news about the $60 rebate from Acer.

I asked for Acer's phone number but the customer service personnel at the Office Depot Rebates Center said he cannot find it and it is weird. So, I provided him all the information to him for help. The personnel asked me to either mail the rebate again to the manufacture as shown in the address above or resubmit through their online at www.rebateshq.com. Also, I was asked to mail my rebate resubmission to:

Rebate Special Services

PO Box 028516

Miami

FL 33102-8516

I went to this website but I cannot resubmit my rebate at this website because Acer is not in their manufacturer list. So, I have to sent my rebates through mail. I sent my rebates again sometime early Dec. 2006. I was told by the customer service at Office Depot Rebates Center that if I did not get a response with 2 or 3 weeks, I can return the item to the store where I purchased the item and get my refund.

After about a month and no news about the rebates, I finally called the Office Depot Store #2503 at 248-5850731 sometime in12/27/2006 to ask if I can return the item and get my refund. The assistant manager said I cannot return the item since it is more than 14 days after the date of purchase. Also, he said I do not have the UPC code. I told him this is not my problem. I said it is Acer's fault. But he said he will not accept my return. He asked me to call Office Depot Customer Relation at 1-800-9443340 to solve my problem.

I called but the personnel at the number given on Jan 2nd. 2007. He said since it is the manufacturer rebate, he cannot help much. He only deal with Office Depot rebates. This time he gave me the Acer number 1-800-7332237 to call. I call Acer on Jan 3rd. 2007 but was told they don't handle rebates. She gave me the number at 1-866-5410284. It's the same number at the Office Depot Rebates Center.

I'm so frustrated with this rebate. I still have the photocopy of the rebates I sent to Acer. I did all I can but it did not help me to get the $60 rebate from Acer. It looks like I kicked around here and there. The store does not accept my return. So, I have to report this to this website. Please assist.

i had a similar experience in australia. i bought a laptop and it had an option to get 100 dollars cash back but u had to send in a panel off the side of the box and photocopy your original purchase document . i did that cut the panel out and sent all this off but ticked the option for an extension of warranty instead of the 100 cash back .. sent in an expensive overnight envelope and handed to the man at the post office to send.. weeks past NOTHING. i emailed them asking where it is they said they didnt recive it. i said what and they said send it again i said how am i to send the panel on the box again its already sent. the indian on the phone said basically tough not there problem if the mail goes missing...a man in the another computer store who i told my story said hes also heard similar tales about lost mail.. so now i didnt get no cash back and no extension on the warranty and i feel scammed
