Complaint Review: Cedar Cleaners LLC - Cedar Rapids Iowa

We hired Kim to clean our vacation rental in Manchester, Iowa. She presents herself very well, knows the talk, and what to say to convince you to hire her.

We found Kim Dunahoo of Cedar Cleaners LLC through Evolve the property management company we are using, she was part of their network of professional cleaners in the area. She is no longer part of their network after this incident due to her actions of verbally abusing and threatening the people with Evolve.

Over the past year we kept having several incidents occur where house was not cleaned entirely. The issues progressively got worse! We found things like:

*Glasses being left out in drying rack

*Floral arrangements left to rot on table, we notified her over the phone about 04/23/2024

*Screws in floor?

*Appliances not getting cleaned

*Shelving not getting dusted

*Rugs not vacuumed

*Outdoor patio furniture not cleaned, notified her via phone on 06/12/2024

*Dishes left in living room

*Basement left unlocked notified her via phone on 05/29/2024 we give all subcontractors the code, we never have asked her to leave this door open.

*Lights left on she was notified 04/23/2024 via phone

*Dirt being swept under cabinets

*Not cleaning under beds

*Throwing dirty linens and towels in the dryer and not washing them.

*Pillow with Pillow protector thrown in Washer causing it to code because she didn't remove the protector and it filled pillow with water that it could not shed

*Leaving the front door open for an hour until I had to ask her to shut the door while she was there cleaning. She was notified via text 06/21/2024

*Leaving the property after cleaning with front door left wide open, unlocked. I had to call her to come back and close the door. She was notified via phone on 06/12/2024

 

All the incidents above, I notified her, so she was aware that things were not happening the way they were supposed to. Only time she ever addressed the situation was when she walked out the front door making zero effort to close it behind her. All the other times I just got, I'm sorry it won't happen again. As time went on less and less was happening.

 

Kim was allowed free rein to visit my home prior to us engaging in a cleaning contract. She was aware of the drive, and is supposedly a professional cleaner. Well, she quoted the job wrong, then we engaged in a 1 year contract, where in 6 months she decided she needed more money. She claimed my dryer was taking too long. The dryer is less than a year old, its a Maytag and takes 60-90 minutes to dry a full load of towels. Guess what?? That's normal drying time for wet towels and Kim the professional cleaner doesn't know that.

Once I confronted Kim on these Issues she went completely crazy, threatening me, my family, our house, etc. I was not going to pay her but ended up doing so to avoid having to deal with her again. So this woman has been paid in full. I do not owe her any money. She has since started threatening me again for exercising my First Amendment rights of Free Speech! I am only trying to make everyone aware of my experience so that this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I just want to warn everyone in the area that she is not a cleaner, she does not clean everything on her checklist, she overcharges, and does not follow through with what she promises in her contract. Her contract is a joke. She is a scam artist. If you try to inform anyone about her actions she threatens to sue you. She has threatened me personally, and my home. You can not leave reviews for her business on Google, or Facebook which is also a big warning! My accusations against this woman are all backed with security cam footage and photo evidence from friends who checked in on the house after Kim left.

Please spread the word to stay away from Cedar Cleaners and Kim Dunahoo! She covers most of Northeast Iowa to Des Moines.
