Quote of the day:

"We are a car dealership... we get threats from people to contact the media all the time!" - Joey Tool, GM Acura of Orange Park, Florida when communicating with me regarding the Maintenance Plan I purchased that:

1. Is not the Maintenance Plan that was explained explicitly to me by the sales person at the finance department at the time of purchase, but simply an Extended Warranty

2. I have received zero information regarding what is covered nor about where I can take it for repair in the past 8 months since purchase, nothing

3. The refund of which would be pro-rated from time of purchase so that I will receive less than 60% of what I paid, even though I have been dealing with its fraudulent nature the entire time and I did not receive the warranty that I purchased.

Also, the financier who sold the warranty lied about what was covered and told me that what I was purchasing for $1,000 was the Maintenance Plan when he actually gave me the Extended Warranty, which covers very much less and which I would NOT have purchased. Conveniently, he doesn't work for Acura of Orange Park anymore AND my only proof of purchase to this date was the note on the sales receipt because they were "all out of the forms and would send it to me by mail ASAP".

Not only did they not send me anything, but I have not been able to get anything form them since the first time I found out that something was wrong until yesterday when I received a form to cancel the warranty for the prorated refund (less than 60%). Still no description of what would be covered under the warranty. The first time I knew that the warranty I had was not what I had purchased was when I went to a Toyota dealership for my oil change, as I was advised to by the financier at Acura, and was told they could do nothing for me with what I had.

Acura is not disputing that I purchased a warranty, but that they owe me nothing more than a pro-rated refund. I have not used this warranty and it is not what I purchased. The attitude of the dealer that I have no rights or means to take action against his employees' practices is truly despicable. The culture of that business appears to be to get what you can from the consumer at any cost, with any lies. The GM's aforementioned quote to me this morning underlies the inherent culture of the Acura dealership.

ACURA OF ORANGE PARK RESOLVES ISSUE AMICABLY

I just recieved A $400 CHECK FROM ACURA OF ORANGE PARK for the full amount of the Maintenance Care Plan that was sold to me in September of last year. The corresponding warranty, which was not in question, is uneffected and stands. Upon receipt of the agreed to Car Care Maintenance Plan Coupon Booklet, which is being printed and should be recieved within a month's time, I will return the $400 and be happy as a clam. As of late, Acura of Orange Park has been trying to do what is possible to bring this issue into the realm of good customer relations. Understandably, they now have the desire to be broadcast in a more positive light than what was previously described in my complaint with Ripoffreport.com and complaints with various other media outlets. Please take these previous sentences as praise for their recent efforts.

Acura of Orange Park saw this report...

Acura of Orange Park saw this report and have decided to try and correct their errors and award me with the Maintenace Car Care Plan that was sold to me in September of last year. I have been contacted about removing this report and am planning to do so upon receipt of the aforementioned Maintence Care Plan. The situation has gone from me hearing "do what you want, there is nothing that we can change for you" to you will receive it (the Maintence PLan) within a month, what can we do to have you remove the report from Rip Off immediately". ACURA OF ORANGE PARK IS CURRENTLY TRYNG TO MAKE GOOD on their previous agreement whiCh was to supply me with the Warranty and Maintenance Plan I was sold in September of 2003 (as of yet I only have the warranty and have been unable to be fully refunded or receive the product I purchased) and if all is followed through with appropriately by them I will report back accordingly. Of course, I will if it is not followed through with as well.
