Donna, there's no way the company would have gotten your credit card number unless it was given to them; it's not in the best interest of any company to steal credit card numbers when the sale would always be challenged. The company would need someone full-time on staff just to deal with the challenges. It sounds more like someone (an individual, not a business) got a hold of your credit card number fraudulently and sent away for the item. The dispute should determine who that was. I would immediately cancel that credit card so no other odd or strange charges appear on it.
