Advanced Consumer Services ... protection from FRAUD of all things on my First USA Credit card
I was contacted by a Steve Adkins at Advanced Consumer Services regarding protection from FRAUD of all things on my First USA Credit card. He advised me of the cost etc. asked for me to confirm my credit card # and said I would receive a info package from them in 7-10 days. A second associate would call and confirm my order etc. which made the offer seem legit. Thinking this was a good way to protect myself I said OK. They advised I had a 30 day trial period within which I could cancel if I felt this was not something I wanted.
My credit card was charged and I awaited my package. It did not come. I tried several times to call them to see what was going on and to try and cancel my account with them - I wanted a refund on my credit card. I have left several messages on their ANSWERING MACHINE with no calls back, I have emailed them at their website-advancedconsumersvcs.com- with no response, and when I visited their website it said the package gets sent within 10-20 days.
Of course now I see the red flags all over the place. If it doesn't get sent for 10-20 days, how can you cancel within the 30 days???!!! They also state if you do experience a lost of stolen credit card or telephone fraud to call them. Your response time must be within 24 hours for them to do anything. Well, if you can't reach anyone by phone and no one returns the messages, of course you can NEVER notify them within 24 hours thus paying for a service that you can NEVER use.
I want to warn others of this scam and I want my money back. I just want to find out what kind of business this is. PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME!

*Update 3/10/00- I finally got to speak to a person and now they are really refusing to let me cancel my account with them. Said I needed to wait until my package arrives. I advised them it has never arrived! They had my address incorrect-I asked again to cancel-Paul Beecher advised I had to wait to get my package and send it back. If I didn't get it why can't they keep the one they were going to send me and cancel my account? No reason, just said I had to get it and call them when I did. He advised I can still cancel with no penalty since I called within the 30 days. I feel as though I'm getting the screws put to me. No matter what I say, they won't cancel my account with them. Now my credit card company has sent me several letters stating I need to dispute the charge within 15 days of me speaking to them. I have done this. I have faxed, mailed, called, emailed etc. to let them know I don't want to pay for ACS's services. I feel like no one is listening to me. I will keep this report updated.
