Affordable Mattress Doesn't Honor Their Own Policies
In February, 2000 I ordered an air bed on the internet from Affordable Mattress.Com. The bed arrived about a week later than promised and was not complete when it finally did arrive. The foam top piece and mattress cover was missing. Without the foam the bed too hard to sleep on.
It took five phone calls to the company to finally get them to ship the rest of the bed. On each phone call I was told that the foam and cover had been shipped. During the final phone call I told Will and the owner Frank Grillo that I would be returning the bed since it was unusable and they couldn't deliver the product ordered.
I again was told that the shipment was on it's way eventhough at one point when Will put down the phone I could hear him ordering my foam from his distributor. Two months after first ordering the bed, the foam finally arrived. The bed was still very uncomfortable and I called the company to return the bed since they advertise a 90 return policy. They said that I would have to fill out a form to return the bed and said that if I did not, they would refuse delivery if I returned the bed to them.
Three more phone calls later, they finally mailed me the form to sign. I spoke to the owner, Frank again and he said that I could fax him the signed form and then he would tell me the procedure for returning the bed. I faxed the form, called back, and was told by an employee, Will that he didn't know where to return the bed to.
After much arguing, he finally gave me the information that I needed. I packaged and returned the bed as agreed, and one and one half month later I still can not get a refund of $999.00 from this company.
After contacting this company and letting them know that I had filed a report on this website, I was given a full refund after previous requests were ignored. I was also offered a free pillow as compensation for all the difficulties that I had to suffer through.
