I recently made a purchase over the Internet from company called Affordable Mattress.

I was attempting to purchase a California king sized adjustable bed. I have not received anything but a small portion of the delivery. I have received the top mattress, valued at just a few hundred dollars. I have contacted the company on many occasions attempting to resolve the issue ... I have bee lied too, promised partial refunds for the delays, promised additional accessories, none of which have been provided, or refunded. In addition, I have requested full refund multipul times, but no one ever returns my calls. The final attempt was today 10/12/01.

I spoke with the manager Frank earlier this morning; he has again failed to return the call as promised at 9:00am pst.

The story:

I placed the order on 08/10/01. I was contacted by telephone an agent of the company on 08\13\01.

Charles, the agent, called me and I negotiate the purchase, delivery, and setup of the bed and mattress.

The total price was $3110.00. I gave my VISA credit card over the phone, and was told to expect delivery in two weeks. My credit card was charged on 08/15/01.

I followed up in two weeks with a phone call, Charles (the salesman) promised that the bed was in transit. When it did not arrive, I called back a week later (week 3), they promised that it was in transit, and that I would receive free Cal king pillows for the delay (200.00 value).

I waited, at one month I received the two top mattresses boxed (valued at just a few hundred dollars). I called to ask where the adjustable platforms were, I was told by Charles, not to open these boxes until the rest of the bed arrived.

Nothing further has ever arrived. I have called many times, and been promised that money would be refunded because of the delay. It has been nearly two months since my first contact with the company, and they will not return my calls. I have asked for a complete refund (from Frank the manager), but have not received any return phone calls.

I have finally filled a dispute with my VISA company as there was only 1 day left before I no longer had that option ... and I think that just what they wanted .....

This message is to let you all know that I received my adjustable bed platforms last Friday as the owner Fraink said I would during our last phone conversation...

In addition, I received a phone call today from the Yellow freight company indicating that my complimentory accessories would be delivered this coming Friday. Affordable Mattress Direct is giving every appearance of keeping there word, and demonstrating good faith by the delivery ariving exactly when Fraink said it would.....

My intention is to communicate that I believe that Affordable mattress Direct does in fact care about its customers. This is evident by the fact that they exceeded any expectations I may have had in mind for compensation for the unfortunate negative experiences, and delays in delivery of my bed, that I experenced.

Further, they are demonstrating that negative experiences are not typical of the company, and the way they do business. They went out of your way to ship the promised accessories(complimentary pillows and foam mattress)in a more than timely manner. Although the accessories have not accutally arrived as of this writing, I have been contacted by the shipping company with a delivery date of tomorrow (Friday Oct 26th)

I find myself much more willing to accept the feasibility of the explanations I was given for my previous negative experiences dealing with the company, having now also experienced the positive aspects as well.

Thanks again for the help given by Ripoff Reports in providing a place to voice my complaints!

Approximately 3 months ago, when searching the internet for mattress & box spring prices, I came across "www.affordablemattress.com", advertising and offering a "free visco travel pillow" for filling out their web-based form, which I did. Within 24 hours, I received a telephone call from their salesman with whom I discussed their products and prices. When asked when I should expect to receive the "free visco pillow" as advertised, he stated that free pillow offer was "legitimate", and that i would be receiving it "shortly".

After a month had gone by and no pillow was received, I called the company and sent emails requesting notification of when I would be receiving the "free pillow offer", none of which received response. On Nov. 21, 2000 an email was received from Frank Grillo, President Affordablemattress.com. In it he stated: "If you are in the market for a new bed call us to discuss and you will eventually get a pillow." In other words, the "no strings attached"- "free pillow offer" was being used to gain sales leads without intending to honor the advertised "free pillow offer".

Obviously resulting from the filing of complaints about thismatter with Webassured.com and the US Federation of Small Businesses, the Affordablemattress.com website has been changed to reflect that "one person per month" will receive the
free pillow offer.

After filing complaints with the US Federation of Small Businesses
and WebAssurred.Com on Dec. 5, 2000, Mr. Grillo sent me an email in which he stated, "Your pillow when out in today's mail".

To date (December 25, 2000), Mr. Grillo's promise has remained unfilled - NO PILLOW HAS BEEN RECEIVED.
