Michelle, First, FORGET THE BBB! They are useless and have absolutely no power to do anything. They are a for profit business just like AFNI. Second, STAY OFF THE PHONE!! NEVER call, or speak to any debt collector. This can only make things worse. They ARE NOT "customer service". They have only one goal and that is to separate you from your money. File a complaint in writing to each credit bureau regarding the "illegal" access to your credit files. Clearly state that you have never contacted AFNI or engaged in any business with them prior to them accessing your files. DEMAND to see what the "PERISSIBLE PURPOSE" was for them to do so. Send all communications by certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records. This is very important.
