Airdrie Dance Academy Airdrie Dance, The Academy Ripped off by Dance studio - wasted an entire year! Airdrie, Alberta
I was ripped off by Airdrie Dance Academy. There are two studios in Airdrie, AB, and by choosing this one I wasted a whole year of dance.
The teachers do not run classes efficiently or seriously, the director is never available, and the facility is bogus. The studio is about 15' by 30', which is barely enough room for 5 students, let alone the 10 that were crammed into my class. The "lobby" is also very small.
The classes are poor - no exams are offered, they are too short (1/2 hour of pointe?) and there is limited selection. Only two competitions per year are attended (opposed to 4/5 at the other studio), and the season is a month shorter. The costume fees are astronomical because they are ordered from a catalog instead of being made by a seamstress.
The main issue is the cost. I paid 135 a month for 8 hours per month, or around $17 per hour. At the other studio (which I know attend), I pay $250 a month for 36 hours per month, about $7 per hour.
I will leave it to you to use this information to pick a studio. Star Baton and Dance Company is the much better alternative for each of the points I listed, and is by far cheaper.
So, DO NOT attend Airdrie Dance Academy!

So, you danced there for a YEAR and it didn't notice that they have small facilities, overcrowding, short classes and high rates?
