Complaint Review: Al Bowman - Los Angeles Music Awards - Hermosa Beach California

Ken Hollowell lied in his initial ripoff report against LA Music Awards.  He stated the following:

"I have never been contacted by the Attorney General of California or the Department of Consumer Affairs. Bowman did however write and letter to the State of California complaining that I was violating SEC regulations in the State of California which the State investigated and found no violations whatsoever."

STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPT OF CORPORATIONS DESIST AND REFRAIN ORDER for violation of section 31110 of the Corporations Code, dated March 20, 2008

Paragraph 8 reads as follows:

"Neither LA Entertainment Works nor Hollowell has been registered under the Franchise Investment Law, Cal. Corp. Code 31000 et seq., to offer or sell franchises in the State of California. 

"Based upon the foregoing findings, the California Corporations Commissioner is of the opinion that Ken M. Hollowell and LA Entertainment Works, Inc. are offering franchises within the State of California that are subject to registration under the Franchise Investment Law, without the offers having been registered under Corporations Code Section 31110 or exempted, in violation of that section. Pursuant to Section 31402 of the Corporations Code, Ken M. Hollowell and LA Entertainment Works, Inc. are hereby ordered to desist and refrain from the further offer or sale of franchises in the State of California unless and until the offers have been duly registered under the Franchise Investment Law or unless exempt.

This Order is necessary, in the public interest, for the protection of franchisees and consistent with the purposes, policies, and provisions of the Franchise Investment Law."

 . . . and where did Ken Hollowell go AFTER this order was issued?  He went to Florida where he continues to sell phony stock.  Florida is one of only two states that protect consumers from fraudulent and unethical business practices.  I pray that struggling companies heed my warning and avoid this man and any so-called offers to "franchise" with him.  He is not an honest man with any sort of integrity.  The truth is here in black and white.  If anyone chooses to do business with him after viewing this document then unfortunately, you probably get what you deserve. 

In response to Ken Hollowell, I must say I am flattered. To be called "the most hated" in Hollywood is certainly a compliment. Ken Hollowell was ordered by the California Attorney General to stop selling illegal franchises. He was never registered to do this kind of business in California and his company called National Franchise Services is not registered with the state. Bottom line is that he attempted to steal someone's company because that is the way he does business. I will let my 19 years of service to the community speak for itself. Hollowell is a criminal and he is a liar and a thief. I will make available for any who wish to see it the contract he signed promising to pay $150,000 a year to me that he never paid a dollar of. Ken split town (LA) after his failure at trying to steal my company from me and moved to a haven for criminals like himself: FLORIDA. I will continue my pursuit of justice against him for the rest of my life until he pays the amount of $150,000 on the signed contract dated December 6th, 2006. This will be difficult to collect however due to the fact that his company does not legally exist. Ken Hollowell is a criminal, period.
