Al Gomes - the owner of Big Noise LLC - is a complete liar. The contract that was sent to me is the first clue that this company is a complete scam. It promises nothing and asks for $1400 so that they can shop your music to "up to 40 entertainment industry professionals." Who are these industry professionals? No one knows. They could be anyone. Hell, they could be me.

Also, they meet with a music focus group that consists of entertainment professionals and regular fans. When this was done, what they came up with was my best song was one that can't be sold or used for anything but performance because it has a sample in it from another song that I don't have the rights to. It was sent in simply because it was some work I had done so they could hear it. If there was a bunch of entertainment professionals in this focus group - they would have known that would be a problem. Al also asked for all new mixes of my songs. That's funny - considering when he claimed he listened to my music - they were all great and I absolutely needed to be part of this music industry.

The company also feels the need to reinforce the fact that they can get you on the grammy ballot. For independent musicians who are trying to their music shopped to labels, management companies, and publishing companies - who cares about the grammys?

Lastly, the contract has no out clause. All contracts that are legit have out clauses. And legit contracts also are usually percentage based because otherwise - the party accepting monetary payments has nothing to lose if they don't do their job.

To all my fellow independent artists out there - don't fall for it. Don't get involved. At all.

First off, after reviewing my own contract from Big Noise Now, he asks for a just over a 1/3 of the money up front to get started, it also states that the contract can be terminated at anytime by either party (there is your out clause).
Also if your best song has a clip from another song that you don't have the rights to, then they're right, you can't use if for anything unless you want a huge lawsuit on your hands. Also you can request a list of the industry professionals that your music is being shopped to, I did, and they were happy to provide it to me.
And as far as them requesting new mixes, you may have a good song, but a shitty mix. It's not that uncommon. Also, Independent A&R people don't work off of percentage based commission, They can't guarantee that you'll a record contract, because they don't own or work directly for a record company. So if there is no guarantee of income, then why would they work for you? Because they really Believe in your music? Get Real. Just because they like it doesn't mean anybody else will, in a world based in reality, most people would understand that.
