Albertsons issues coupons from their printer, on checkout. They are for cash off of your next order, when presented at check out. On orders of over $150, they issue coupons for $20. Twice when I have checked out there, I have not received my coupons. This evening I saw the coupon come out of the printer, in the amount of $20. The checker handed my receipt and 1 coupon, for $1 off a product. Since I had seen the coupon print, I knew I should have it. It was not given to me. I had seen him fold the coupon in half, so only the 2 showed, and he had pushed it partly under the coupon printer.

After my groceries were loaded in my car, I checked to make sure that I had received the coupon and it was not there. I went back into the store and asked the checker where my coupon was. He said that he had handed it to me. I knew that was not true, but he had not solution for the problem. He called a manager over to the check stand, and I told him about my problem. He said that they could not issue another one, and suggested that I might have lost it. I knew better than this, and persisted. The checker said the only way to get one again, would be to check out again. So, I went to my car, and loaded my groceries back into the cart., and returned to the store. The manager on duty interceded and gave me 2 coupons for a total of $21. (I wonder who didn't get those coupons.) I turned to the manager and told him that I knew what was going on and that it had happened to me once before. (The cashier palms (or otherwise hides) the coupon, then waits for an order that it can be used on.) If the customer pays with a charge card, no change is expected.) Next time the cash drawer is opened, the checker takes out the amount of the coupon. As I was telling the manager this, he turned his back to me and walked away. (Maybe he is doing the same thing.)

As I returned to my car, the man who had loaded my groceries into the car came up to me and handed me a $20 coupon. He said that he had found it on the ground next to my car. (Funny thing, it had a fold just as I had seen at the register.) I knew I had not dropped it since my receipt and other coupon were in my purse.

Management doesn't seem to object to the practice. Watch out for checkers stealing your coupons!
