Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We travelled to Las Vegas on Allegiant Air, it was our first flight in five years and I have no desire to fly again for quite a while and I never want to fly with Allegiant again; I'll pay a few dollars more thanks.

They may be a little cheaper, we only paid a little less than other airlines, but expect lengthy delays and bad customer service.  We waited two hours going down to Vegas and four hours going home to Bellingham.  They don't make a habit of posting these delays, nor do they offer anything but a free bottle of water.  Not sure what the problem was going down, but coming back there was a medical emergency, then they crew decided they were too tired and stressed to fly the plane, so we waited another two hours for another flight crew, not sure why they could not have phoned a new flight crew during the two hour flight from Vegas, guess that wasn't enough time for them to decide? I understand about the job making you stressed and tired, but most of us had at least an hour drive very late at night after we got off the plane, so I do hope everyone got home safe that night?

When I did complain to the desk at the gate, I was given a number to complain and sushed up and then the staff left us alone to wait a couple more hours.  I was told by another waiting customer that the number would do no good, as they don't care what happens to customers.  So I wrote the president of Allegiant Air, well that also does no good, they could not even offer me a partial refund.

Not to mention there were children on that flight and not one hand was lifted to provide comfort for those tired children, including my own child.  It's really too bad that this airline values their paying customers so little; I have worked in customer service jobs for many years.   What was supposed to be a holiday to get away and reduce some stress in our busy lives turned out to cause more stress, all is not lost as the hotel we stayed at was wonderful.

So pay the extra money and stay far away from Allegiant Air!

Late flights are standard these days.   Doesn't matter which airline you use.  Unless you're paying triple to fly first class, you are just so much cattle to the airlines and you shouldn't expect much in the way of compensation or concessions when a flight is late.  The days of customer service are long gone in this industry.

"then they crew decided they were too tired and stressed to fly the plane"

Crew flight time is regulated by the FAA.  What happened to you happens a lot when an unforseen event (such as a medical emergency) causes a delay.  An airline will not call a standby crew until they are certain that regular crew will not get off the ground before their allowable work hours have expired.   My guess is that there was a slight chance that the original crew might have been able to get airborne before the clock ran out, so the airline didn't have a spare crew ready.   It costs them more money to activate a backup crew.   That is pretty much standard practice at all airlines.

Personally, I would prefer a delay to fly with a fresh crew, rather than a crew that's already been at work for 12 hours. YMMV.

I'm not making excuses for this airline, just pointing out that the delays and treatment you described are routine these days.  It's doubtful that any airline would consider it a customer service problem.
