My name is Betsy. I am a single mother of two young boys. I recently graduated from a healthcare tech school and got a new job.

I wanted to start a new life with my kids by buying a home. I got online and typed "home loans for lower income single mothers" and filled out applications on a few different websites. I chose "fair credit" when asked thinking I would not hear back from anyone.

On June 20, 2006 I just happened to be home for lunch about to return back to work, wish I would have left a few minutes sooner. I received this call from a Jonathan Weber from Allied Financial Future Inc. He told me I was approved for the loan amount I applied for which was $60,000 dollars. It was a secured loan at 7% fixed rate, 6 months worth of payments down (also referred to it as collateral because of my credit), which I would get back if payments were made ontime for 6 months and my payments would not start for 6 month because of the amount put down.

I never thought this opportunity would come to me, so I told him yes and he faxed the terms and conditions, application to sign with the figures, and even a statement from J.D. and Associates Law Firm. It looked to be real. I pondered over it for a few days while Jonathan Weber called me everyday telling me to take my time reading the documents and to call him with any questions. He was very professional and kind. I had looked at houses and realized I may need more money for the type of home I was looking for. I called Jonathan Weber and asked if it would be possible to get an $80,000 loan instead, he said it shouldn't be a problem and he would get back to me. He called back the same day and told me I could get $80,000 and then told me I would need 7 months down and my payments would increase slightly per month. I said okay, I'll get the papers signed and fax them to you on Friday June 23, 2006. He then told me the exact amount I would need down $3,573.00 and for it to be wired Western Union to my "lender" Archie Starr, 1213 Troy Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba/Canada R2E1X4. He said it will cost a couple hundred to wire, but I would get it back in the loan check. I was to call him with the money transfer control number (MTC#) as soon as I wired the money. My mother helped out with this collateral down payment and she did all the running that day to get the money wired. She called me with the mtc# and I called him. He said my check was ready and would be sent to me Federal Express. I had a choice to have the money put into my checking account or Fed Exed. I chose the latter of the two, thank god. The documents said if I chose Fed Ex it would take 24 to 48 hrs. Monday June, 26 rolled around, no check. I figured they had to process the documents I'll give a couple more days, all the while I was calling Jonathan Weber leaving messages to be sure he received the copies of everything he needed (the application, my pay stubs, drivers license, Social Security card)and that I wanted a receipt faxed to me and the terms of the exact date my loan was to start. I could not get a hold of him and called everday for an entire week. Even tried to just talk to someone in customer service, had to leave messages. It was then I looked on the website of the Better Business Bureau of Connecticut. The company did come up, not registered, had the Co-founders name Mark Marciano and the Manager David O'Brian just like on my documents. It didn't really say anything bad, had no reports for past 36 months, mentioned that the word "future" in the web address is missing an r. So it still seemed okay because there were no complaints. A few more days go by (still calling the company everyday)that's when I started to contact the government of Connecticut. I talked with the Department of Banking. This employee says "that sounds like a scam to me." I was like, "ya think? (complete sarcasm) that's why I've started to contact the government" She was sorta helpful, said they don't necessarily have to be a licensed business depends on the type of loans. She emailed me the FBI's web address.

My friend is an Attorney and he told me to google the names, did find the people's names involved in Connecticut but doesn't give too much info unless you sign up and pay a fee. That's when I googled the company name and found someone else who this happened to. It was like reading about me but different loan amount! I cannot believe I was so careless. I just wanted to do something on my own and look where it got me. Now I don't even have the money to put down on a home or to go rent something. It's a major set back and I am willing to do what I can to catch this Jonathan Weber and anyone else involved. I called him today before I found this site and left a message. I said, "I don't know how you sleep at night, you have ruined my dreams and my kids hopes, I don't care if it takes 10 years I will make sure you pay for this."

Thanks for posting your experience for me to find, and thanks for letting me post mine. This actually makes me feel alot better knowing that I am not alone in dealing with this "financial company." Please contact me with any information I need to help.
