Allied Interstate Collections Direct TV Accounts unrelenting phone harrassment, refusal to accept cease and desist letter ripoff Nationwide Chandler Arizona
I owe Direct TV a little over $50. I am unable to pay this debt at this time, and have repeately told them this. They call EVERY SINGLE DAY, sometimes 2 or 3 times per day, 7 days a week.
This has been going on for several months, so I finally asked for an address where I could sent them a cease and desist letter. I was given a PO Box in Chandler, AZ to write to.
I mailed this certified, and it was delivered on Aug 18, 2004. According to USPS tracking, the notice informing them of certified mail has been delivered but not picked up. After 5 days they will return it to sender...(me.)
Today is the 5th day, and they have still refused to pick up this letter, meaning they will be able to keep calling me since "they were never notified."
How can I make them stop calling if they don't accept their mail? I don't dispute the validity of this debt, but I do question the validity of their debt collection practices. If I don't have the money on monday morning, what makes them think I will have it monday night or tuesday morning? This is not a fair debt collection practice, this is simple harrassment.
I originally would speak to them and explain my situation. I have recently become disabled, and have been waiting months for a decision on my SS claim. If i werent living on family owned property, I'd be homeless right now, as I have no income whatsoever other than food stamps and the occasional help I get from area churches. I don't have the money, and am not likely to have it any time soon.
I wouldn't mind if they only contacted me once or twice per month just to see if my situation has changed. But daily? Its harrassment, plain and simple.
And now it seems like its going to continue, since my letter demanding that they stop is on its way back to me as I write this.

After numerous calls and complaints to the FTC and the Ohio Attorney Generals office i was given an address and phone number in Columbus, Ohio as Allied Interstate's corporate headquarters. I am not on my home computer or i would list them here, and i will do so later this week when i get home. When i called the office in Columbus, i talked to a very nice fellow that oversees their Direct Tv accounts. He was sympathetic, and promised to stop the calls for at least 30 days, but explained that if they took me out of the system altogether, that my account would be sold to yet another, nastier, collection agency. If i cant pay when they start calling me again, i can contact him and he will again take my number out of rotation for 30 days. In the spirit of cooperation, i told him that id withdraw my complaints with the FTC and atty. general if he honored his agreement, but he asked me NOT TO. Apparently, it is DIRECT TV that has approved of and authorised these aggressive and annoying tactics of calling every single day, and in order to satisfy their client, Allied Interstate must show that they are at least making contact with these delinquent accounts every single day. I will never, EVER, use Direct TV again. And i pity the poor schmucks that work for allied, i can imagine what kind of abuse they must put up with on a daily basis. No wonder they are so hostile.

I did a Google search and after much searching, I was able to determine that Allied Interstate Collections is located in: Chandler Office Center 55 North Arizona Place Chandler, AZ 85226 County: Maricopa A search of Superpages finds the following company listing: Allied Interstate 5062 North 19th Avenue Suite 102, Phoenix, AZ 85015 (602) 841-4332 Hope this helps.

allied also calls me about bill trying to get more than i owe i call them back every chance i get just to talk or call and not say a word like they do me its a toll free no.so i can do this as long as they can
