Allied Interstate ripoff, harassing phone calls for a DVD that I did not receive. Columbus Ohio
I received several phone calls at my place of business requesting that I pay $51.26 for a DVD that I did not receive. It was purported that the Columbia House reported me. I hadn't done business with Columbia House for years and never received any notice from them that I owed anything. In fact, they have contacted me on several ocassions requesting that I join their club because it was reported that I was a member in good standing. I asked at that time if I owed anything on my past accounts. They stated that I did not owe anything.
This morning I received yet another phone call at my place of business. The representative stated that I could pay the settlement amount of $26.00 but that I would have to give my credit card information or check over the phone. I told them that I would mail them a check (just to get them off my back). The representative then stated that I would have to pay the entire amount if I wanted to mail a check because it would take 7-10 days for them to receive it. $26.00 today is worth $26.00 in 7-10 days. Anyways, I told them that I would mail the check today.
After thinking about the whole mess, I started to think! Who are these people and why am I buckling under to them to save my credit over something I did not receive. After checking this website and phoning my attorney for advice, it was decided that Allied Interstate would get nothing but a great big harassment suit if the persistent phone calls didn't stop.
I just finished writing a letter to Allied informing them that impending legal action will be pursued against them if they harass me again about this debt.
Let's see if they get it this time! I will keep you informed!
