I was contacted at work by "Mike" from Allied Interstate regarding a "past due" balance on my Cingular Wireless account. I informed "Mike" that I was never late or delinquent on any bill, and I have automatic payments which post from my checking account. While still on the phone with "Mike" I checked my Cingular (now AT&T) account on-line. I did not owe anything.

I told "Mike" that he was mistaken. He told me that I needed to pay the $30.14 immediately. I told him that I was hanging up and would be calling Cingular (AT&T).

I contacted Cingular (AT&T); they admitted that a clerical mistake had caused the inaccurate report to Allied Interstate. I was assured that the matter would be corrected ASAP.

This matter has not been corrected. In one 24 hour period, Allied Interstate called at my office 3 times and then placed 4 calls to my home. One of these calls placed to my home was answered by my 8 year old daughter. The representative from Allied Interstate told my daughter that he needed to speak with her mother because she owed him money!

I am very frustrated. I have repeatedly called Allied Interstate to correct this situation, but to no avail. I have never felt so helpless.
