You are correct! Allied waste/ Republic contracts are signing with the devil. Once you are in, you are IN. Even on a residential contract you cannot get out of it..for FIVE years....then you better have sent them a certified letter no less than 60 days prior to that end date...or....you are in for ANOTHER FIVE YEARS with more rate increases!!!! Yes, the contract allows them to charge any fees and surcharges they desire. We checked and they are DOUBLE other local services. Try to get out of it??? FAT chance, they threaten to sue you. Tell them you have moved??? They threaten to hunt you down to make sure you are not lying. If you are still in their service area, you will be forced to take their garbage service from the new area!!!
We are fighting with them on an 80 year old couple, poor and on a government check and can no longer afford double the price on garbage. The story is just plain sad. Even after a certified letter was sent back in April, they REFUSE to cancel the service. Only an attorney can they say can cancel. This after 10 years of being a good customer. That is the thanks they get. A good swift kick in the pants!! We told them the couple are poor( we have been picking up the bill) they say too bad, "we will sue and we win!!!! We will win a judgement. We have attorneys and win all the time".
They are heartless!!! I never read of such a wicked contract before in a free market society such as American. I am utterly floored that they are still in business or some saavy lawyer is not suing them for every step they take. After all, bad karma does eventually come around doesn't it?
