Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This "company" is nothing more than a nice guy (watch out he'll fool you) that is willing to promise you anything you ask for...but he does NOT deliver. What he DOES deliver looks good for a week or two, then it all falls apart.

First off, he WAY over-dug our pool by 2 to 4 feet all the way around.  Next he used soil from the dig to build up the patio area.  The soil was spongy and we told him not to use it because it would not compact properly.  He used the soil anyway and had to bring in an additional 12 loads of soil to create the patio.  He should have gotten 10 more to smooth out the grade, but did not.  The back of our pool ended up with a steep hill behind it.  He hadn't estimated any of the extra dirt, so he used as little as possible leaving it looking like we buried an above ground pool.

On the cement deck, he did not use rebar all the way around the pool as stated by VIKING POOLS which voids our warranty.  The concrete cracked in every control joint but also all the way across the patio area and walkways OUTSIDE of the control joints 3 days after it was installed.  Basically the whole patio broke off from the pool area.

He left the electrical unburied and the yard ungraded and totally looking ridiculous with the pool basically buried in a berm on the whole back side.  The contract stated he was leave a finished grade and to cap any sprinklers that were ruined by the dig...he did not.

The patio was supposed to have a 2 color treatment - it does not and is falling apart!

The cantilevered coping is cracked on every control joint all the way down to the shell.

The WORST part is that the contract states he would install a Aqua rite gold line salt system.   What he actually installed is an Aqua TROL gold line salt system.  The difference is that the Aqua Trol is for an above ground pool ONLY and a small one at that - 14,000 gallons max.   Our pool is an inground fiberglass pool that holds 24, 000 gallons!!!!!

He didn't ask where we wanted the 2 pool lights and he just went ahead and installed them both on one side and  because of the contour of the freeform pool, they are both aiming towards the center leaving the steps where you enter and exit the pool totally dark!

He never even finished the job. We had to hire someone else to fix his work and do a lot of it ourselves. DO NOT USE ALLURE POOLS or Jeff Young...they'll rip you off and you'll end up paying lots more to fix it than to just go with a big name pool builder.

This is one of the biggest mistakes we have ever made and we wouldn't want anybody else to get ripped off like we did.

Allure Pools and Spas Side of the Story

The mentioned over dig was required because of bad soil surrounding the pool. Forty tons of river sand were filled in around the pool, and 17 loads of dirt were delivered and compacted to compensate, per pool construction standards. Prior to pouring concrete, the ground was plate compacted, pilings dug around the perimeter, plastic laid, and wire mesh and rebar placed.

The concrete cracks Mr. Sawyer refers to occurred primarily in control joints, which is completely normal. Control joints are, in effect, planned cracksthey are used for the very purpose of preventing cracks from spreading to the surrounding concrete. There was one crack that occurred outside of the control joints. Had we been able to complete our work on the project, that crack would have been repaired prior to placing the concrete coating and sealer.

Mr. Sawyer agreed to a concrete coating on the patio to achieve the two-color treatment, but it couldnt be done until 30 days after the initial pour. Sealing is done after the coating.

The pool in question holds 18,000 gallonsnot 24,000 as Mr. Sawyer claims. In addition, the Aquatrol system is marketed for above-ground pools, but performs well in any type of smaller pool, up to 18,000 gallons. Yet at the Sawyers request, we replaced it with an Aquarite system.

In response to Mr. Sawyers dissatisfaction with the fact that we did not finish the job as agreed upon, we would like to point out that the only reason work stopped was because of non-payment. Our contract, which Mr. Sawyer signed, states that all work would stop if payments werent made. We received text messages from the Sawyers stating that they loved the pool and visitors they had at their house wanted to get in touch with us about constructing pools for their homes. That all changed when we began requesting payments. Mr. Sawyer refused to pay because there were too many issues, but when we asked for specifics, he claimed there were "too many to list" and ultimately said "we dont need your help anymore. We would have been glad to come to an agreeable solution, but Mr. Sawyer was unwilling to cooperate.

The Sawyer family enjoyed the pool for over a month while we completed the fence, waterfall wall, and fire pit. The fire pit size was even increased from the contracted size of 48" to 60" per the customers request, and we allowed him to pick out the cut stone of his preference. Both of these extra pool services were provided at no additional charge.

In short, these claims made by Mr. Sawyer are unfounded and taken out of context. If anyone has any questions about our pool services, wed be glad to answer them. Give us a call at 704-661-9976.
