I have been an Ambit natural gas customer for nine years and for most part very satisfied with their service and pricing. My account was auto-renewed on a yearly basis which was just fine with me. But now thay changed their practice from auto-renew to a system where you have to take the time to let them them know whether you would like to renew or not. Since I did not, I was placed on thier "Market Pricing" which increased my price per therm from $.3716/therm to $1.035! When I called the comany to be placed back on renewal. I asked for an adjustment the the outragious price I was charged. They refused to do so. I then told them that I no longer wanted to do business with them and to switch me back to Nicor Gas. They said they could do it, but it may take up to two billing cycles. Two more months at over $1.00/term! No thanks, I postponed the cancellation and reported the to them to the Illinois Commerce Commision. Beware of their practices!

I'm in the same boat as the poster. The fact is there is no need for me to go to the ambit account page bacause I pay my bill through Nicor. Their only way to notify of this was through the account page, yet they have my email on file, and they did NOT even email me.

 I am a consultant for Ambit Energy and aware of the new policy. However you as a customer are provided a free website to monitor your account. Therefore if you use Ambit resources provided you would have known it was time to renew. Right now we sign for twelve months and it takes almost two months before the switch is ' live' so to speak, and of course will take about the same amount of time to switch back to what you use to use if you are not satisfied. Of the complaints I have read through, many could have easily been resolved . With millions of satisfied customers these complaints here are just a drop in the bucket with many that could have been handled in a manner more becoming to the Company as well as the Complaintant. I and my customers are extremely happy with Ambit and their customer service.
