I am a former customer of Ambit energy. I cancelled today. Ambit provides electric and natural gas delivery to NYSEG in upstate New York. Until yesterday I had no problem with them. Me electric gas bill averaged about $190.00 per month.
Suddenly I was hit with a bill of over $370.00. I contacted NYSEG and Ambit. I was told that Ambit had doubled delivery charges to "meet market demand". No notification; no email; no phone; no robocall; no text; no explanation. I guess Ambit hoped I wouldn't complain. Unethical and price-gouging behavior if you ask me. Ambit told me that NYSEG was planning on increasing expenses. They told me there was a letter mailed to customers. I asked the Ambit rep to email me the letter. She told me "we can't do that."
NYSEG's rep denied the letter existed. He said he had never, ever seen prices skyrocket to .013/unit for electric.
I am writing to AMBIT to request a portion of my money be refunded. The difference between my last bill and the new one seems fair- about $120.00. I expect nothing from AMBIT, but they have lost my business and I am contacting the BBB.
