I had been operating an account in the bank. Suddendly I get a call from Bank Manager to visit them. I visit the bank and informed my accout is being shut down as they had instruction from back office to take the decison, which they had overwrote when they opened the account.

 

I begged and begged the bank manager and told him it seem like the decison was discrimantary. The manager got offended and instead of trying to work out things took it personally. He said he was not willing to offer any help based on the commnet. I apologized for expressing my feelings.

I called office of the President and they did not do anything about it and left me believing that they do discriminate. It was my fault to open an account in a small bank where do they do not care about customers feelings.

Something in your original application did not meet he guidelines set by the bank. Yet someone at the branch decided to go ahead and open the account. When the back office reviewed it, they directed the account to be closed. Apparently you knew the guidelines weren't met because you knw the branch "overwrote" the decision. And now you're surprised the account was closed???

For it to be discrimination against you for being an Arab, then all Arabs would have to be treated his way. It's possible but I highly doubt it. As far as the manager deciding not to help you, you'll find that a lot when you don't get your way and play the discrimination card. It would be better to ask why you didn't meet the guidelines and if there's anything you could do to try to get the back office to change the decision.

As far as your diabetes, it has no bearing on the matter and was thrown in looking for sympthy.

No, I don't work for tis bank. In fact have never heard of them before this report. But you'll find that most banks operate almost the same. So this situation could have happened anywhere.

I had not the same expereince. But similar. I went to the Dallas uptown location to open an account. I was asked to meet the manager who asked questions, why I wanted to open an account. He also asked me where was I from ethically. I told him, I was from Qatar. The manager did not have adequate manners. I was asked to meet a branch representative. It seems like the manager called the respresentative and asked him to not open an account. It was very shocking for me. I left very dissapointed. I opened an accou t with Chase Bank the following day and it was a seamless transaction. The manger came to meet me and shook my hand. I felt very respected. It seems like many small banks like Amegy operate under same guidlenes. I am sorry you had the experience as your seems worst. As advise in America, you dont need to request people in business again and again. To preserve your respect walk away confidently. but I understnd your family situation. I HAD AN ACCOUNT IN THE BANK.

Begging shows desperation and gives others the power to walk all over you. Specifically, why did the decision appear to be discriminatory?

I AGREE. PLEASE BE AWARE PEOPLE FROM OTHER CULTURES ARE VERY KIND AND FAST TO FIND A SOLUTIONS. FURTHER NON-WESTERN CULTURES ARE VERY KIND, TOLERANT AND FORGIVING. THEY ARE NON-CONFRONTATIONAL. WHEN A MANAGER SAYS, "SINCE YOU ACCUSED ME OF DISCRIMINATION, NOW I WILL NOT HELP YOU, RATHER THAN SAYING. "I AM SORRY SIR, YOU FEEL THIS WAY. WE DONT OPERATE THAT WAY."

 

HOW DISSAPINTING IT IS FOR CUSTOMERS TO MAKE THEM BEG. THE WORD "BEG" IN OUR CULTURE MEANS REPEATED REQUEST. SORRY MY ENGLISH IS NOT AS GOOD AS YOU. PLUS I AM TYPE 1 DIABETC WITH HIGH BP. I HAVE TO ALWAYS STAY CALM AND FIND SUPPORT OR ELSE IT WOULD AFFECT MY HEALTH. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF MY 90 YEAR OLD MOTHER AND 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO LIVES WITH ME. 

 

MAY I RESPECTFULLY ASK YOU A QUESTION, IF SOMEONE EXPRESSED FEELINGS WITH YOU, WOULD YOU NOT ASK, WHY THEY FEEL THAT WAY? AND TRY TO CLARIFY. THAT IS A PERSONEL SITUATION BUT THIS IS BUSINESS. IN BUSINESS WE HAVE TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL. LET ME SUBMIT TO YOU, BUSINESS WHICH DID NOT CARE FAILED IN FUTURE. 

 

DECISION IS DISCRIMANTORY AS I AM AN ARAB. WE TALK ABOUT NO RACISM IN WESTERN WORLD. SINCE 911 THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN AMERICA. YOU MAY OR MAY NOT APPRECIATE. BUT WHAT HAPPENED AT 911, HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH INNCONENT ARABS AND AMERICAN PEOPLE.

 

SOME FANATIC PEOPLE TOOK A VERY WRONG PATH AND TILL DATE WORLD IS SUFFERING. AMERICA TILL TODAY HAS RACISIM OF BLACK AND WHITE DEEPLY ROOTED. YOU MAY DISAGREE BUT CANNOT DENY. 

 

PEOPLE GET BRANDED QUICKLY HERE. IT IS OUR CULTURE IN ARAB WORLD TO FOLD HANDS AND HUMBLE OURSELVES AS WE HAVE TO LIVE HERE. WHY WOULD A MANAGER , HIS MANAGER AND PRESIDET NOT RESPOND?  

 

YOU SEEM LIKE A VERY KIND AND REASONABLE PERSON, WOULD YOU NOT RESPOND IN A BUSINESS SETTING?  

 

DECISON WAS STRICYTLY MADE AS A FAULT OF THE BANK. I HAVE PROOF OF THAT, WHEN I CALLED THE BANK TO FIND OUT. THE PERSON WHO OPENED THE ACCOUNT TOLD ME THAT THEY OVERTURNED THE DECISON AFTER SIX WEEKS? WHY?
