America Home Shield ripoff, save your money and use your local phone book tricked and lied to us Carroll Indiana
America Home Shield is a ripoff. I am a first home buyer. I was introduced to AHS by the realtor. I had a leakage from a very old gas water heater. I placed a call to AHS Sunday evening. I got a recorded message that took forever to place a call. The recording kept asking me the same questions as if it was in a loop. Finally, a real person answered.
I was given the name of a AC/Heating company that would contact me within four business hours on Monday but they never called. I called the company and was told they never received any request from AHS. I contacted AHS a second time and it took twice as long to get a live person.
I was told that the request was faxed through the computer to the AC/Heating company. But when I asked if their computer verify if the fax was sent, I was told their computer does not confirm if the transmittal was received by the recipent. I work in the computer field and I feel this set up is very bad. Finally, I got AHS to fax a second request while I stayed on the line until the AC/Heating company received it.
Oh it gets better. I had a hard time getting the AC/Heating repair man to come out for service. I had to call AHS a third time and complained that the glitch in their fax system caused many problems and wasted a lot of time. Finally, someone came to service my gas heater (Thursday). I came home the same night to discover gas fumes coming from the basement. I called the AC/Heating emergancy number and had to shut the gas off. Needless to say I will not renew a warranty with AHS. When they contact me for renewal, I am going to refer them to this website.
