American Credit Repair is a tempting offer to those of us with credit issues.  Mine was simple and straight forward:  My well paying job from a solid company disappearred suddenly in 2008, leaving little opportunity to replace the income.  We were left with no choice but to file bankruptcy and allow our home to be foreclosed on.  We had NEVER had a late payment up to this date and had none afterwards.  6 months later, we found a job overseas, moved, and began paying cash for all bills.

Flash forward to 2013, and it is time to move back to the US.  We had an empty credit report, except for a 5 year old bankruptcy and a 3 year old Foreclosure (because the banks delayed foreclosing on a pristine, empty home despite us offering the keys.).  We were unable to secure a home mortgage with the Foreclosure on our record.  Steve White with American Credit offered an 80 percent chance of eliminating the bankruptcy, an 80 percent chance of eliminating the foreclosure, and an 80 percent chance of eliminating the work "bankruptcy" on 10 items released in bankruptcy.  He also told us to expect an 80 point increase on our scores.  He came highly recommended by good friends and seemed qualified.

I followed all instructions given and forwarded all responses from credit companies.  After 5 months, NOT ONE of the issues I needed fixed has changed.  American Credit was able to remove some items more than 7 years old, but that doesn't help the credit scores.  In fact, both my wife and I have had all 3 credit scores increase by an average of just 4 points after 5 months as a result of this service, and it probably would have done that without the service.

I knew what I was getting into and have asked for no refund.  I thought he could get this job done, and as it turns out, no one can.  Steve and his staff were friendly and understanding,  BUT THEY CAN DO NOTHING TO HELP YOU.  Save your money, apply for a secured credit card, and do not use this service.

It is likely that Steve will personally respond to my post.  He is usually very prompt returning calls and offering explanations.  I sent a copy of my credit report to his company after 3.5 months showing that nothing changed, but he said he needed to pull his own copy, at a cost of 75 dollars and the risk of lowering my credit score (as explained by my bank's loan broker.). I refused that, as it is clear there is nothing he can do.

He is a friendly and likable guy, and I would be glad to have him as a neighbor.  I will not counter respond to any explanations for why my score didn't increase. Save your money and put your hope elsewhere.  American Credit has no ability to help.
