Complaint Review: American Data Group - Ft. Meyers Florida

I had been looking for a job almost a full year when I decided to try this. The job market had been so bad I was willing to do anything. I found this ad in any of your local job listing papers.

The picture in the paper said government jobs and listed a phone number with a picture of the Lincoln Memorial in the back drop. Jobs starting anywhere between $11-$48 an hour. I am sure some of you have seen it. It looked official and I assumed that anything involved in the government had to be real and not a scam. So I decided to give the number a call.

I was directed to a guy named Greg I believe and he was real nice during the whole conversation. He asked me where I lived at and I told him. He then did some things on the computer and said, "yeah there are plenty of jobs in the area you live." He then asked me what I was looking to do and I told him just about anything. He then told me that I would recieve a packet in about 7 to 10 days listing all the jobs near where I lived. I said, "great what do I need to do?" He took down the rest of my information, like my full name and address and other information.

Here is a catch I didn't know about until he took my information. He then told me it would be $69.95 and I could pay by credit card of check by phone. When he said this I started to change my mind about the whole thing. So to keep his sale, I guess you could say, he told me that it was a guranteed. I would have a job in 3 weeks and they would help me find the right job. He then said and I quote, "it is fully refundable, if you don't find a job or if you get one some where else and not through us you will get your money back." This eased my worries so I deceided to go ahead and use what little money I had left and try this. So I did check by phone and paid for it and the guy said I should get it soon.

Now the problems start. About three days later on 2/18/04 I saw that the money had been pulled out of my account, I thought good, its been proccessed so I should see it soon. Well the 10 buisness days passed by and I was wondering where my packet was. I then called the original number that was in the paper and they gave me a diffrent number to call telling me they couldn't do anything. This took place on a saturday, so when I called the other number they were closed of course and I would have to call back on Monday.

Monday came and I called the other number and got some rude lady, unfortunantley I don't remember her name, and I explained to her what my situation was. She told me you have to give it 7-10 buisness days. I told her it had been more than 10 days and thats why I was calling. Although I had already explained this to her once. She then told me I should get it soon and

hung up.

I decided to be nice and give them a little longer since mail seems to run slower out here. Well I got tied up in other things and time passed by. Now extremly irritated with these people I call them up on 3/22/04. More than a month had passed by since the money was taken out of my account. I had not recieved a packet, I still had no job, and its not like I had money to spare when I did this. So I called them back and once again had some very rude lady. I told her I would like to get my money back and she asked why and I explained to her what had happened. She then very rudley said ok and told I would get a form in the mail to fill out and would have to send it back and the money would then be credited to my account.

It is now 4/5/04, still don't have a packet, still no job, and no form to get my money back, or has my account recieved the money. I now see that these people sucker punched me into this with all the niceness and all the promises. Almost a full two months and I have nothing to show except $69.95 that was taken out of my account. But to top it off, all I get is redirected every time I call trying to figure out where my form for my money is. So I strongly advise any one who reads this DO NOT TRY THIS! This is the biggest rip off and mess of lies and bull crap that I have ever seen.
