AMEX after 16 years of loyal borrowing and "never" a late paymnet ran a credit report randomly and found a wrongful collection on my account, thus bounced a transfer balance check to another business associate of mine and lowered my spending limit. This has caused me damage to the other account and limited my ability to use the credit for my business ventures, as it was set-up for. I have proof of the wrongful collection and documentation of the inqueries that have been made on my file without my consent. Enclosed find correspondence to the company...I have since closed this account.

I am in receipt of your letter regarding my AMEX account and the declination of my check # 00005335.

As of today, November 3, 2006, this account has been closed bringing an end my sixteen- (16) year relationship with your company. In this time period I have never been late with a payment, made the minimum payment, or breached any of the terms I agreed to with your organization.

The information you may have or possess is incorrect and not withstanding. As you may be aware, six (6) out of ten (10) credit files have mistakes in them, which makes the information you possess about many of your clients less than reliable. One of those clients is I. To date I have had LaMesa RV, without my consent, run my credit file 5 times, and had a collection on my account from Legacy Park, Charlotte, NC wrongfully entered into my file. For five (5) months now I have been emailing and calling the appropriate agencies to correct this information and right this wrong. I have documentation to this end and have consulted an attorney for my damages, which now include American Express.

My issue with AMEX is simple frankly; in sixteen (16) years I have been a consummate credit consumer. You took information from agencies that have serious defects in their system and staff, with out any regard for the truth from a long-time, loyal, and credit worthy client. You never even considered asking me, your client, if I might provide documentation to prove the information invalid. You bounced a check to a vendor/creditor that I do other business with, and have damaged my name and account status, which was previously unblemished, until now. How dare you? You have proven no regard for me and my long-standing association with your company, even with my flawless record of payment. You have humiliated me with another company and damaged my ability to further borrow. My continued business dealings have now been fissured. Take these cards and deposit them, where they belong; in the lavatory with the rest of the s**t you sell. Quite frankly, I like many other folks am tired of this lack of consumer fairness and loyalty. I am also sick of the way you treat your good customers, at the click of a mouse. Keep your cards, and your credit. As soon as I can find a reasonable, and fair local bank, I will pay you off and you will not ever have to worry that my credit report doesn't look the way you would like us PERFECT citizens to look at any given time.

Chris, You are not alone. I was a good customer of AMEX with a 14 year spotless credit history and a 735 credit score. I was an AMEX customer for 12 years and never had a late payment. I had 3 accounts with the oldest being 12 years another 7 years and another 4 years. All in perfect standing. All at one, all of my cards are simultaneously closed while I was in the middle of a move! All of my reservations and plans were cancelled due to this. I was literally stranded. I even had one account, my gold card, prepaid for the amount of expected charges and my money was frozen! Take a look at amexsux.com for lots of these cases of wrongdoing by amex. They are a truly terrible and arrogant company.
