American Freedom Insurance Co E H Meindl Agency Automobile Insurance claim not honored after accident was reported. Agency EH Meindl called to remove vehicle from policy as of the date of the incident. Arlington Heights, Illinois
I was insured with American Freedom Insurance company policy start date was August 2009. I was involved in an accident on 3/17/2010. American Freedom stated that they were contacted by the general agency E H Meindl on 3/19/2010 and was instructed by the agent to remove the vehicle form the insurance policy as of 3/17/10 the date of the accident. When I contacted American Freedom Insurance to file a claim, they told me that I was not insured on the date of the accident. They referred my to their general agency E H Meindl because they stated that any changes or updates to my policy would have been authorized by E H Meindl.
When I contacted E H Meindl they did not have any explanation as to why they authorized American Freedom Insurance to remove the vehicle from the policy, only that I was not insured on that date. My policy was in good standing and paid up at this time and there was no reason for the vehicle to be removed from the policy except that they did not want to honor the claim for the accident. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Illinois. I have a claim in the amount of $1,500 due to this accident that the insurance company refuses to honor. This is not the kind of thing you want to hear after an accident after paying your insurance premiums each month. Buyer beware, this company is not on your side and does not stand behind you if you file a claim for coverage.
